Highest I can get on 3dmark. 1450/1998. It's not stable, though. I need a modded bios badly for this card.
And I have another 980 that will be here Thursday.

I've decided on SLI 780 tis. Hopefully I can get a pair for around 700.

I would buy two 970s now, but Im set on the 780/980/Titan reference cooler. They didn't make any 970s with it

I wouldn't get it at Best Buy anyway. Their prices are usually on par with Amazon, but they have the huge disadvantage of sales tax, which would be $75 on that monitor.
With the new 970s and 980s I can imagine there is a huge demand for Gsync at resolutions above 1080p. I would expect any company with gaming monitors to be scrambling to sell 1440P Gsync monitors. 2015 will be the year... I hope.
