For warning I have been out of the build scene for a while I will be asking in the near future for a mobo, processor, 27 inch 1440 ips monitor, and a case. gonna get an 850 seasonic, and a 2nd 7950 for the other upgrades

That is a great price. I much rather 1440/120/GSync over 4K at this point. My CrossOvers are 1440/120 but since IPS they experience terrible screen tearing if I don't locked them down to 90FPS.
This was the monitor I am most excited about. I thought it was being pushed back until late Q3, which prompted me to start shopping for a 2160/60.
I'll wait it out for this thing.

Just noticed how old the article is, January 6, 2014. Yeah this monitor is no doubt delayed for later this year.
I know it is OCN but pretty much comfirmed by rumors on various sites.
Guess it will be a 4K display to hold me off then.

shite, I was googling around and a lot of recent posts were putting that monitor at a June release.
Either way, can't afford, and I don't have nvidia at the moment either. Maybe next year. Gotta get one of these kids out of diapers and daycare and into good old free public school.

I'd like to get a new monitor, that one does look nice. What else is decent out there? I currently play on an older 27" 1440p Apple display, would like to move on to something a little more for gaming around the same size and at least 1440p.
Just couldn't find anything I really wanted when I built my comp. The apple still does a decent job, but I would like to move it back to full time service on a non gaming comp.

There aren't any "gaming" 1440p monitors. You can get some qnix 1440p monitors that OC past 60hz, but they won't look nearly as good as your apple

Yep, no 1440p panel on the market right now is worth replacing your Apple. When that ASUS ROG comes out, perhaps, especially if you have an Nvidia card for g-sync. At the moment, if you want something that's really "meant" for gaming, you'll have to go 1080p 144hz.

I purchased an aftermarket PCB for one of my CrossOvers which allows it to OC to 120hz. The problem with that is that IPS panels are not made for high refresh rates, they have tons of screen tearing past 85-90fps. So what I do is lock my frames at 90fps and even some high action games I will need to lower it to 80-85fps.
EDT: That is the reason you are seeing TN panels in 120+hz monitors and not IPS.

Apples have the best displays. All these 1440 monitors all use the same LG or Samsung panel but Apple only picks the best and calibrates them perfectly. Nothing has ever looked better than my old 2012 27" iMac's display.

I mean, If we are being serious.. That's probably quite a few things. I mean really.. How many different situations have you seen that included corn on the cob? I could probably hoola hoop while juggling 3 corn on the cob and that'd be something you never witnessed.
