Lisa Su named AMD chair after completing $49B acquisition of Xilinx
quote:
Advanced Micro Devices Inc. CEO Lisa Su is now also chair of the Santa Clara chip maker, which completed its $49 billion acquisition of San Jose-based Xilinx Inc. on Monday.
When the all-stock deal was announced in October 2020, it was figured to be worth about $35 billion. AMD's stock has increased in value since then, pushing the price paid to what AMD says is the highest ever in the semiconductor industry.

AMD's Market Cap Surpasses Intel for the First Time in History
quote:
AMD is now a bigger company, by market capitalization, than Intel. It may be close, but AMD has passed Intel for the first time in the company's history with a ~$197.75 billion market cap at the close of the market on February 15 compared to Intel's $197.24 billion. AMD's sudden market cap surge comes on the back of its blockbuster $49 billion acquisition of Xilinx, the largest semiconductor acquisition in history.
That marks a stark reversal for a company that was teetering on the brink of bankruptcy a mere six years ago when it first unveiled its revolutionary Zen CPU microarchitecture. Six years of relentless execution later, AMD now has an all-time high share of the CPU market, giving it the cash to ink the biggest semiconductor deal in history.

Word is major GPU price slash coming in March.
Sell now if you're going to, and wait now for a bit if looking to buy. March is the magical month with stock and price drop.
Supposedly.

I believe resale prices will continue dropping, but I don't see retail prices dropping this gen, period. But hey, Godspeed to those who have been wandering in the desert all this time

Leaker doesn't specify new or resell market, just major price slash in March.

Amazon had some 3070's for $775, lowest I've seen yet.

LHR or FHR?
Stockx had FEs under $800 today. someone mentioned they had half off seller fees today and that they'll go back up eventually.

Latest rumors are an April 20 release and a $450 price tag. Little disappointed with both, to be honest. I was hoping for end of his month and $400. With the 5900x going on sale for $450 these days, $450 nearly two months from now is a tough sell.

Just bought a 5800x for $330 from B&H because I'm underwhelmed by 5800x3d rumors and I lack self control.
Now to buy new RAM...
