Hey Blue, reminder, my friends' card shop opens tomorrow in Houma with opening day sales, with some Case breaks and ex-Saints players signing autographs.
Come check it out, Nymeria and I will be there at 10AM and back around 2PM.
Down South Cards and Bats
Edt: Take pics with Hooters girls must be for the kids. I remember how pumped up I was to visit Hooters as a kid.

It's an hour from New Orleans on HWy90.
Fyi, I think Houma is the trashiest city in Louisiana outside of Lake Charles.
Ppl talk New Iberia, idk man.

Hoping they could keep pricing like last gen and go $349/$399 again though for 6700/6700 XT.
Thats really where AMD would be most effective, even with the tariff.

Reports now saying $479/$499 for 6700 XT
Wow they have really gone upmarket if thats the case, no more value brand any more

Either that or they have a 6600XT coming, which would be the successor to the 5600XT.

That was a $279 MSRP card though, my point was it seems like they are charging way more (sticker speaking only) for this, so I would expect a 6600 XT to also be much more overpriced vs. previous gen $279 price point. Realizing pricing matters for not right now but man, if the 6700 XT is $500 it better be at least as good as a 3070.

Again. You do realize that there is a 25% tariff in place now, correct? MSRP does not matter. There is a huge supply chain issue AND there's a tariff in place. Prices are not going to make sense until both are resolved.

Guess you missed the multiple times where I've said price doesnt really matter right now (since there's no supply).
But point is the MSRP was set pretty high in comparison to the 5700 XT, and by competing with the 3070 almost directly now (price and performance) AMD isn't really a good "value" option much anymore unless you consider the 6900 XT vs. 3090. They are charging nvidia pricing basically now for similar performance. It was like "oh damn I can get a $400 AMD card (5700 XT) that has near $500 nvidia card performance" previous gen.
I'm not necessarily arguing , just stating facts, they've risen prices up a lot and are positioning themselves as a premium product now instead of a good value. While I think overall they are pretty much there - especially on CPU side, I still think nvidia has a big leg up on them in some cases like Ray tracing and DLSS which is worth something. I think the 6700 XT is more a $449 card when you factor in stuff like that.
Hardware unboxed had a big survey of their base that basically stated the same. How much cheaper do they think AMD cards should be compared to nvidia cards assuming similar performance but lacking a DLSS feature and any real ray tracing support and the results of that were 6-10% cheaper.

MSRP is a thing of the past anyways, but 5700XT MSRP right now is 399$ due to the tariff and shortage. Safe to say without the 6700's would be ~ 100 less as well. Not enough ray tracing games out there for me, and I plan on getting a new GPU in a year or so anyway, maybe ray tracing will be worth it then, maybe not.

BTW if anyone can find a 5900X for MSRP i'll give you 100$+MSRP and pay shipping.

Hey all,
What's my best option motherboard/CPU combo in the range of 700-900 combined?
I screwed up my pins replacing a heatsink/fan on my I7-8700K/Asus ROG Z370E and now need to replace.
Mostly for gaming performance with some graphics/video editing often enough to want high end for those purposes too.
Have a ROG Strix Geforce RTX 2080 TI and dont plan to upgrade it too terribly soon.
ETA: I've always been most accustomed to buying Intel

Your CPU is still fine so you only need to replace the motherboard?
If you want to upgrade anyway, the new ryzen 5000 series is the way to go

No, apparently I fubar'd both the motherboard and the CPU (burn mark resulted from pin issue).

Would say 5800x/5600x and a nice x570 (I personally have the Aorus Master and really like it)

Intel's rocket lake s may be one of their worst products ever. Yikes.

The concept itself is just a mess.
They took an architecture meant to run on a smaller process node, then backported it to a larger process node, which essentially could produce many issues like temperature problems, timing closure problems, and core architecture layout problems.
The 11700k basically gets wiped out by a 5800x.
The only thing Intel has going for them is availability, but even that is getting difficult for them to claim because the 5000 series availability is becoming better and better.
