Hey all,
What's my best option motherboard/CPU combo in the range of 700-900 combined?
I screwed up my pins replacing a heatsink/fan on my I7-8700K/Asus ROG Z370E and now need to replace.
Mostly for gaming performance with some graphics/video editing often enough to want high end for those purposes too.
Have a ROG Strix Geforce RTX 2080 TI and dont plan to upgrade it too terribly soon.
ETA: I've always been most accustomed to buying Intel

Your CPU is still fine so you only need to replace the motherboard?
If you want to upgrade anyway, the new ryzen 5000 series is the way to go

No, apparently I fubar'd both the motherboard and the CPU (burn mark resulted from pin issue).

Would say 5800x/5600x and a nice x570 (I personally have the Aorus Master and really like it)

Intel's rocket lake s may be one of their worst products ever. Yikes.

The concept itself is just a mess.
They took an architecture meant to run on a smaller process node, then backported it to a larger process node, which essentially could produce many issues like temperature problems, timing closure problems, and core architecture layout problems.
The 11700k basically gets wiped out by a 5800x.
The only thing Intel has going for them is availability, but even that is getting difficult for them to claim because the 5000 series availability is becoming better and better.

No its not, still cant find a 5900X under 800$

True, the 5900x and 5950x are still scarce. 5600x and 5800x have become more regularly available.

Yeah 56 and 5800X's are staying in stock at most places now. Even Amazon.

Venting a bit - been trying to get a 3060TI or 3070 FE for months like everyone else and the last two BB drops happened while I was in an area with zero service calling on customers
Big mad

What Twitter accounts are y’all following for GPU drops?

I stopped bothering keeping up with it. I've given up on the 3000 series cards.
Gonna skip this series of AMD cards too. My 2070 Super runs all of my games at maxed settings at 1080p, so if anything I'm thinking my next upgrade will be a new monitor before I go with a new graphics card.
As a side note, for anyone in this thread that has bought a B550/X570 series motherboard that has the Realtek 2.5 GB LAN chip, Realtek has finally identified that the random disconnect issues were due to their drivers, rather than it being on the motherboard vendor's side.
They just posted a new driver on their site, 10.047, which has complete stability, if you disable the following settings through device manager (credit the posters on the MSI and Tweaktown forums for this):
Flow Control - Disabled
Interrupt Moderation - Disabled
Large Send Offload (IPv4) - Disabled
Large Send Offload (IPv6) - Disabled
Realtek confirmed their next driver version release, assumingly 10.048, will have a permanent fix without needing the above settings disabled.

AMD kind of screwed the pooch a bit with a $479 MSRP, it's a $449 MSRP card at best in reality. But hey, pricing doesnt matter at all right now anyways so, who cares

Yeah if they would have at least priced it at roughly the same MSRP at the 5700XT, it wouldn't be a bad buy at all.
Now though... Yeesh. I wouldn't get a 6700XT over a 3060ti.

Blue
Since you don't respond to anything else, what case/container did you purchase about 1yr ago with the clear/glass top for graded cards?
Can you repost?

I thought it was a case where cards later out vertical, and could fit graded cards.
Maybe it wasn't you, nice box though
