I would be so pissed if Amazon sent me a new CPU in a damn soft mailer. They've been doing this a ton with Ryzen and so many cases of bent and broken pins. What a waste.

That's a great mobo. Bought one for my 9600k a while back, and it's been flawless.

Ignorant question here but how can you quantify mobo performance

It's mostly about features more so then performance. The higher end boards have better cooling and higher quality parts for ocing, but it's mostly about features

1. VRM Quality
2. VRM Cooling
3. Chipset
4. Features (which seem to drive price more than any of the above)

Walmart sent my 5600x very well packed in a cardboard box with air-cushion packaging.

For $20 less, you can get a B550 Tomahawk from MSI:

Both are good options.

Yeah, the Elite has a 12 vrm power phase and the tomahawk a 10. Might as well get the better cooled board for the little money. Also has an Intel Lan chip instead of a garbage Realtek.

They both have used options with prime for $30 less too. Shouldn;t have any issues with used AMD boards unlike Intel, those pesky pins.

Even though I did order a Z390 Asrock Taichi used-good from amazon warehouse. 99% chance there are bent pins

Literally my only complaint with the Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro AX ITX Board in my build

fricking 2.5G garbage chip and bluetooth disappearing with every BIOS update.

If not for those 2 things, board would be perfect.

Gigabyte supposedly has let Realtek know numerous times about the 2.5G chip issue, and it is driver related but Realtek is dragging their asses on fixing it.

EDIT: BTW, the guy looking for a board for a 5600x, the 10 phase vs 12 is really irrelevant, but yeah, the 12 phase will give him a path forward if he wants to go 5900x/5950x route in future with Overclocking plans.

Smart Access Memory benches showing fantastic gains. Great new tech from AMD there.

Odds of him upgrading any time soon are slim. Him overclocking is even slimmer

I have a question about updating the BIOS for a Gigabyte Aorus X570 Elite motherboard that has a Ryzen 5. Do you build the PC first and then update or do you hook up the power and update it that way? This is my first father and son build.

Are you updating the bios just to update it? Or are you updating it to swap in another CPU?
