I see. I personally can't stand Apple or their products, made the switch around the 6 and was like wow yeah okay I'm never going back. Then Jobs died and Apple quit inventing and just pump out the same thing now over and over to their sheep.

Idk how anyone could be super into tech and like an iPhone.

Lol, there isn’t much difference between operating systems for day to day use. I was on Android for awhile and still mess with it. The differences just don’t really matter anymore.

Meh... almost all of my family is on an iPhone. I was on Android previously, but I switched from a Moto G5 Plus to an iPhone 8.

I'm not a "power user" by any means, to me its just a Phone. And I've been fine with that. Its just easier to communicate , especially with this pandemic, to use the same eco-system with family and friends.

Hopefully I can get one or I'll wait and go for a 6900XT which is supposed to have more stock than 6800 series.

That's a good deal.

Still an iPhone in a closed source bad ecosystem from Apple with little advancement in technology or design for like 5+ years now though. I think that is why you don't see many techies with iPhones anymore.

Also, LG's HDMI 2.1 issues with their 2019 and 2020 OLEDs is not fixable with a firmware update.

VRR basically unusable below 120HZ causing gamma and brightness issues.

LG ADMITS THAT OLED TVS WILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH VARIABLE REFRESH RATE (VRR) BELOW 120 HZ

Guess that kills the 48" for me until 2021.

The VRR gamma stuff is effectively a nonissue from all real world accounts I’ve seen. I’ve been researching the shite out of it and everyone says it’s about as overblown as the 2.1 40gbps shite. Regarding that, Since the panel is 10bit, having 48gbps would be completely pointless/wasted. You need 48 to hit 4K/120 on a 12bit panel, so since the TV is 10, it’s not needed. See here:

The CXI will also have the VRR issue as well, as they are almost assuredly well into the preproduction phase. I’m not waiting till 2022 to get another TV. If the gamma issue bugs you, it can be calibrated out. Vincent Teoh mentioned that the vrr gamma issues exist on led/qleds as well but it's not as obvious since the black levels aren't great on those TVs

My 77 CX gets here Friday. If it’s that bad, I can just return it. I’m sure it’ll be fine though

Damn, ya idk how I feel about that as a pc monitor so I think I'll let that dream die. Wait for a good 43" panel of some kind in the future.

Yeah I elected against the 48” for PC as well. You want to be like 4’ away, need a deep add partner’s desk. I’ll stick with the GN950 right now. Someone will make a 32, 38, or 43” down the road and I’ll scoop

The LiDAR thing will be huge. I'm excited about its possibilities. One of them is potentially some golf metrics.

Crime scene investigations will be easier as they can just "walk" around them after they record it.

Remember when the PS5 was the fastest SSD at 5Gbps? Gen 2 PCIE 4.0 has blown past it already with another over 7Gbps.

Phison Electronics, the industry leader in flash controller technology, is delivering the storage industry's fastest PCIe Gen 4x4 NVMe SSD solution, its second-generation PS5018-E18 (E18) PCIe 4.0 controller. The E18 succeeds the PS5016-E16 released in late 2019.

I'm excited to see if games actually start taking advantage of these speeds SSDs are even getting to. Every time I see game benchmarks for SSDs, SATA vs. PCI gen 3 vs. PCI gen 4 drives all basically have the same load times and no difference in loading worlds. Still noticeably faster than hard drives but neither really distances themselves one from the other, certainly not the price premiums PCI gen 4 command still.

Hopefully the new consoles with fast PCI Gen 4 SSDs will push along development there.

I wouldn't count on it, at least not anytime soon. But hey if you want your PC to boot in half a second there ya go.

Pricing is more or less the same so if you're building new with AMD no reason not to get the fastest I suppose.

I paid $330 for my Samsung 960 Pro 512GB the day it launched. Now you can get triple the speed for $229 1TB.
