i was pretty dead set on a 5950X, but after looking at a bunch of gaming benchmarks, it doesn't seem like it's worth the upgrade when playing at 4K

lower resolutions, it's worth it

Nice, I'm going to upgrade after the first of the year. I want the new PCIE 4.0 goodies as much as the big performance gains.

LOL at the 5600X pasting the 10900K in gaming. Rip Intel. Review sites are not taking it easy on Intel either.

Reddit posts showing 100+ people in lines at microcenters. What a time for AMD.

But why? It's not even that good.

Ooooooo a workstation CPU.... no one cares.

i dont get it, the 5900 does better than the 5950 on almost every game

guess it's more of a workstation cpu

after perusing some more, the difference between them 2 and a 10900 is negligible at 4k. guess I'm going to keep my 9900k until a significant upgrade comes along in terms of gaming performance

We're gonna need a heft boost in GPU performance for that to happen

A lot of people want the best they can buy. So a chip that is the best at gaming and work is a no brainer.

Same type of people that will spend $1500 on a 3090 despite it barely being any better at gaming over a 3080 and for workstations. They may not be the smartest but they want the best.

Well duh that's why I said and work. Same as a Threadripper more cores = less gaming performance as games still only use about 6 cores. You're not buying a 5950X or Threadripper for gaming you buy it for work and gaming on a single rig versus two. Or streaming on a single PC instead of two.

So an overpriced swiss army knife that's not really the best at anything? Also, $800....yikes....

And selling like hotcakes at over $1200 a pop. People want the best sometimes.

Not really, I think they just want the best for their usage. You seem to be struggling to understand this. If you're a gamer, that also does workstation work, the 5950X is a god send. Prior you had to use a Threadripper CPU which was quite bad at gaming.
