VA panels suck dick.
Gross over-generalization, there are good and bad IPS, VA, etc... panels.
For whatever reason a few years ago things like "IPS has better colors than VA" myths got spread around. Go into the TV/AV world and those enthusiasts would laugh at a comment like that. There are VA panels now with super fast response times and much less motion blur than what gave them that bad rep years ago.
I actually prefer VA due to the super deep blacks you get compared to IPS. You give up some viewing angles to IPS but it's irrelevant unless you're staring at a huge monitor up close and the edges are a bit of a ways away from viewing head on which at that point can affect color shift/contrast.
Some of the top 10 gaming recommendations on rtings.com use VA panels and have response time/motion blur rivaling those IPS paneled monitors.

Need a good MB/Processor combo under $400 for a build for my kid. Mainly gaming...any ideas? Open to Intel or AMD. I can't seem to make up my mind on which ones to choose. Any idea on when the next big sale will run? Labor day?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Thanks Finch!
PC Part Picker gives me this warning...
Warning! Some AMD B450 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Zen 2 CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.
I don't have an extra ryzen chip laying around to update the bios...has anyone had this issue? I would assume a 3600x would work but I might call MSI to verify.

all you'll need is a flashdrive. i did this 3 weeks ago with my new build.
here's a how to video from youtube
LINK
go to MSI's website to download the file. i'll link it for you.
LINK
once you do it for the first time this way, you shouldn't have to update it again in the same fashion. you should be able to go into the BIOS and update it there. the video above should show that.

Is it weird that I got pissed off listening to a Best Buy guy telling a customer to buy a prebuilt expensive PC for streaming? After the customer finished talking to them, I went over and gave them 10 minutes of advice on pc parts
Posted on 8/10/19 at 6:48 pm to boXerrumble
I’ve wanted to be in situations like that but I’m not very social IRL. Every time I walk into a store, this is how I feel....
Posted on 8/10/19 at 7:17 pm to finchmeister08
I didn't want to do it in front of the Best Buy employee because I'm not a dick, but that advice he was giving was seriously awful.
$1500 I think for a pre-built pc with a 1660ti and he was talking about water cooling it

He's got to sell the shite in his store. That's his job. If he is telling customers to go buy shite not in his store, he's doing a bad job.
It sucks selling shite like monster cables to people, but I wanted a paycheck back in my Best Buy days, so I did what was necessary. Doesn't mean I didn't know I was taking advantage of people who didn't do their research. I say blame the customer.

Just get a 3600, the 3600x is a huge waste of money, it's a money making SKU for AMD and nothing more really. Like the 3800x compared to 3700x.

doesn't the 3600x have the better overclocking capabilities than the 3600?

I know someone in here knows.
What VPN should I use when torrenting and outside Plex access?
I just got NordVPN but considering using Private Internet Access instead.

Gamers Nexus reviewed the Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse. Thermals are improved and the price of the card will be $410. That makes it tempting sell mine for around $375 and write off the $25-35 loss and I'd still be ahead for buying one with a legit cooler.

I use PIA but that's only because I've had it for 3-4 years on my router
Posted on 8/12/19 at 10:41 am to bluebarracuda
So I have the ATT Uverse router and I also have a Nighthawk R6700. Could I add the PIA to any of these?
So I may have to use my R6700 with DDWRT and flash to get OpenVPN?

Just use IPTorrents and be done. I haven't used a VPN in years.

Do you use radarr or sonarr? Do you leave everything you torrent to be seeded?
