I'm going to order a Radeon sticker to go over theirs, it makes it look a tad better.

Would this mod void the warranty?

ETA: I just watched the GN disassembly video and appears that the RAM sand VRM will be cooled through the PCB. Is this correct? Any issues with that?

Don't worry about this

There is a sticker on the cooler from some manufacture but in the US it is illegal to void the warranty by taking off the cooler. This past years ago. The main argument to win this case was thermal paste replacement. As you know thermal paste dries out and loses effectiveness over time. As the consumer will have the right to maintenance.

Also, the card monitors temps thru sensors. It will shutdown and throttle etc.. you k ow how that works.

However I don't think the law protects you from being a dumbass with a screwdriver.

Edt: Just an FYI about water cooling though. There is a sticker over over the cover and block showing factory leak test of a block. This sticker can't be removed if you want to claim water damage/leak from a manufacturer's block.

Just so you know =)

No.

LEDs I hate this trend. But I'm old.

Edt: I'm becoming a gray beard. Time to start hating everything.

This is just 1yr ago. The gray comes fast. No gray last year.

I have white LED strips behind every monitor and TV for accent lighting. They are connected to a controller for dimming and power on/off. In addition I have a touch free system to adjust lighting with an light sensor(not just uv) so if my hands are dirty I can swipe and hold to adjust intensity. All controlled with RasPi.

You need to get into SBCs and small projects next UH. You would like it.

Edt: Have an unused hat if your want to try making a controller. I can send. But it's only $40 bucks for that I believe on Amazon.

The one in the pic below is unused since I don't like how hot it gets when not inside a controlled climate. Was going on an outside project but pulled back.

Update on build, it's complete and ready to assemble this coming weekend once RAM, PSU and cooler make it in:

Case: Corsair Crystal Series 680X RGB ($200)
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 850W 80+ Gold ($74)
MoBo: Gigabyte Aorus Elite X570 ($150...$50 off at Microcenter w/ CPU)
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 ($200)
Cooler: Corsair H100i Pro 240mm AIO ($100)
RAM: 2x8 GB DDR4-3200 Corsair LPX Vengeance 15-15-15-36 ($70)
GPU: XFX Radeon 5700 XT ($350...$50 off at Microcetner w/ CPU)
Storage: 512GB Inland Premium NVMe 3.0 x4 M.2 SSD ($40...$20 off at Microcenter with coupon)

Total - $1,184 + tax

Figured down the line switch over to a 3950x once those get slashed way down. Spent a lot on the case, but will probably keep it nearly forever. It's a really really nice case. Not sure if I even need to add an internal mass storage drive, I have a few external and honestly wont keep anything but windows, office and games on this computer. The 5700 XT at $350 was just too good to pass up at microcenter on the $50 off deal with Ryzen 5 3600 or higher. For $150 the board too, it's 12+2 power delivery, kind of nuts in a board that cheap IMO, should be able to handle 16 core.

I've seen some pre-builts with a 5700 XT or RTX 2070 around that price on sale, but sacrifice bigly on case, MoBo, PSU and cooler in those cases from mine. I could have saved $100 on the cooler, $100 on the case getting a still good $100 case, maybe $20 on PSU with a 650w...so could easily do this build very well still for about $964 with stock cooler, or about $1000 with a decent air cooler. P.S. the cooler with the 3600 is a total joke

The 3600 has Wraith Stealth
LINK

It's literally an inch tall heatsink with no heatpipes, I mean if you could overclock even 100-200mhz all core I'd be a little surprised with this

The Spire is literally like twice the height for the heatsink, it actually cools much closer to Wraith Prism. Just saw a video on Stealth vs. Spire vs. Prism and in gaming it seemed like the Spire and Prism (on an overclocked 2600x) were within 3-4c or so of each other. The Stealth was about 8-10c worse than the SPIRE

Why are you concerned about OC on a non X?

Huh? A 3600 and 3600X will overclock to the exact same. The 3600X just comes with slightly higher stock clocks, you're paying $50 more for the slightly better stock clocks and admittedly a much better cooler (but not worth $50 more, you could get a significantly better cooler for $50).

The 3600x and 3800x make little sense in AMD's lineup if you know how to overclock at all.

Not sure why you think the non X is at a disadvantage overclocking (well, when NOT using the crappy included cooler).

The 3600x doesn't OC at all but the 3600 does?

So you can get a 3600 to 4.3 but an X won't go over that? Weird move by AMD. I'd have definitely bought a 3600 then and saved the 50.

No they both overclock, all AMD CPUs are unlocked.

The 3600 and 3600x on even cooling will hit 4.2ghz, one doesnt overclock better than the other.

The $50 premium on the 3600x is so AMD can make a higher margin on the same chip as the 3600, with a cooler that maybe costs them $5 more to make

Basically the 3600x and 3800x is AMD taking 3600 and 3700 chips, slightly pre-overclocking them, and giving the 3600x a better cooler, the The 3800x is truly a mystery why anyone would buy that becuase it even has the same cooler as a 3700x and costs $70 more?

If you have zero intention of overclocking, the 3600x might make sense, but even then you're paying 25% more for maybe 3% better performance overall at stock. So it's not a good value at all.

Tl;DR: The 3600x and 3800x you shouldn't buy
