Can you imagine with what we know now about Navi and its new features that will be in the PS5? That thing is gonna be insane.
Anti-lag is going to be huge for consoles. Then the raw power of Zen 2 + Navi.

Yet they're still going to be at a major disadvantage if they keep sticking solely to HDMI and/or sub 60hz

And they'll still be consoles...

Yeah, but the exclusives on the PS are worth purchasing.

What's wrong with 4K 60Hz every game? I'd be happy if PS5 does that. Some 90/120.

90/120 is out the question.
It won't bear to push that consistently and the platform's primary output are to TVs which don't take advantage of 60+ fps.

Well the Sony boss already confirmed it has support for 4K 120Hz (and 8K), so you'll see some games with it. Obviously not a triple a graphically demanding game.
You'll need a 2019 or newer TV with 120Hz 4K native support such as the LG C9 or Samsung QLED's (those also support variable refresh rates).

Oh and you would probably hate the air cooler I chose because it is so hefty and so ugly but damn it performs so well I don't even care and compatible out of the box with Navi.
Arctic Accelero Extreme IV
She may look rough but she cools so well. Going to add a Radeon sticker over their name one which will help some.

I know that company, I have one I tried years ago.
Why don't you put blocks on stuff? It's easy
Edt; I used one a 290, years ago during the first Bitcoin mining boom.
They have always made a good bolt on option. We used to have others in that space but all have since went bankrupt. They are a hold out from the old world in a sense. We need them though.

Yep, AMD still uses the same Hawaii pattern 52.3mm so Vega and now Navi still bolt right up. Only one that does especially this early for Navi. 20 degree idle temp drop alone, massive gains still.
I am messing with the registry to extend OC limits right now using SoftPowerPlay. I should be able to eclipse 2080FE.

Oh and I wanted to share this Navi chart in regards to the next gen consoles:
Look at the power efficiency, 110w at .932mV 0%PL and maintains 1700MHz without losing much performance. I believe that was the rumored clocked or thereabouts for PS5? 1.7GHz. 110W sound about right for a console chip?

I’ve seen that thing on Amazon but I’ve been reluctant due to me not knowing how it keeps the VRAM chips cool.
ETA: nvm, just watched this Russian installation video. The thermal pads go on the back side with the heat sink. Is that piece of clear plastic really necessary?
LINK
I may get it as well, but I sure do like how those Radeon letters light up on the blower cooler.

what's the total length after you put it together? i'm curious if it'll fit inside my case.

Would you consider that plastic sheet worth installing? I mean, there’s no plastic sheet behind the back plate currently.
Posted on 7/21/19 at 8:22 pm to finchmeister08
I did but it just says it's a protection sheet, I don't really know how or why or what it does but it was a pain and took awhile. Rest of it was very easy.
I would say to just roughly cut out the areas for the pads and use it just in case. May take you an extra 15-20 min.

It’s supposed to keep the board from shorting out with the backplate heat sink on but the current back plate isn’t touching anything. Plus, your adding more distance between the 2 because of the thermal pads.
Regardless of all that, I guess you’d say it’s worth it, eh? It’s $59 on Amazon. I would assume the AIB cards will be around the same price when you add the 2 together.

Yeah, I just don't understand how that is supposed to do anything though. It didn't make sense to me but I used it anyways. Really doubt it matters.
Definitely worth it for the $. It will cool better than the AIB cards.
