Is that a synthetic bench? Those are worst case. Play some games and see temps

I assume you updated to the new drivers yesterday?

And is that your Hotspot temp? That one matters more. Card begins to throttle at 110C Hotspot.

Mine was hitting 107 before I took it apart and she doesn't hit 100 anymore.

did you do anything else to it besides the washers and thermal paste? i assume it was worth it?

for what it's worth, the blower isn't really that loud. i think the people that care about that care too much and should relax.

I added about 4 thermal pads of my own to the backplate since there weren't any stock. And then yeah just removed the thermal pad for a high end paste and used washers.

Dropped about 6-8 degrees under load at the hotspot although TIM has a couple day curing time.

I wasn't home much yesterday so I didn't notice they released a new driver update. Just updated a few hours ago to 19.7.2.

You kept the stock thermal pads that are on the vram sections around the GPU?

Yes, I only replaced one because it was loose and 3/4 off the vrm so just put a new one on.

Cool beans. I doubt I’ll need to do this because I probably won’t get into anything too heavy, but I’m gonna keep my eye on the temps just to be sure.

Thanks for the feedback, UH.

Here is my Time Spy at 2060 OC and 900 memory OC. Temps never exceeded 80 and hotspot stayed around 94.

Dang, that's good. My GTX 1080 FTW is like 8000. 8700k is about 8000 too.

You don't need to purchase anything. Doesn't matter how much extra it does. You only need something to bench against. If you scored 8000 before OC and 8100 after, you know it worked.

wouldn't different benchmarks produce different results?

Yes but that doesn't matter. As long as the test is consistent, you'll get results of you getting a better performance or not.

Obviously aren't sitting 2 feet away from it

But just for reference, a 49" ultrawide is about 47" wide. A 55" tv like that is...48" wide!

In what world are you working at a desk sitting more than 2ft back from your monitor?

solid find. Glorious 3XL is 50 and a little thinner. I have the SteelSeries Heavy QcK Desktop mat. It's been amazing.

It's 4mm (same as your link) but 36x16.

Build now:

Case: Corsair Crystal Series 680X RGB
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 850W 80+ Gold
Storage: 512GB Inland Premium NVMe 3.0 x4 M.2 SSD
Cooler: Corsair H100i Pro 240mm AIO

Update...just got 2x8 GB 3200 (16 GB total) Corsair LPX Vengeance RAM, 15-15-15-36 timings, $70 at Newegg, not bad for the faster timings

Going into Microcenter and going for a 3600 and Gigabyte Aorus Elite X570 and trying to pre-pay for a 5700 XT, it's $50 off the X570 board and the 5700 XT, cant pass that up, hopefully they will honor the $50 off 5700 XT with non in stock right now. Good X570 board for $150 and 5700 XT for only $350 is tough to pass up.
