Will stop the stupid Samsung sucks talk but have you looked into the 1660 Ti?
They are nicely priced mid-range cards with loads of aftermarket options.
Edt: Don't go for the cheaper 1660. It comes with much slower VRam.

Hmmm, perhaps.
The 2070 looks to have better performance than the 1070ti, but the price is comparable.

I think that is a shtty price for the performance.
If you pay that much you are better off paying more for a better card.
It is like a sucker's bet price point IMO.

Not really ready to drop $1k on a GPU.
Feel like I could get the necessary large jump in performance on a 1070ti for $600. But I'm not as well versed in GPU's like I have been in years past.

You should not be paying 600 for a 1070ti.

Gotcha.
What is your recommendation for upgrade from a 960 currently?

That is such a ridiculous price for that type of performance.
I could never recommend that GPU. I would do the cheaper option for nearly the same performance at half the price. The resale value will still be there when you are ready for a true upgrade.
That is my recommendation.

Exactly.
Or a 2070.

Isn't a 2070 like 499?
Retail but think most listings are around $550. Then add tax and shipping in some cases.
Edt: $499 is still to high IMO.

Isn't a 2070 better than a 1080 performance? Sounds about right.
Posted on 3/17/19 at 8:29 pm to Hu_Flung_Pu
What? I mean that is still to much for a 1080. A 1080 is a high mid-range card.
They are both terrible purchases.
The retail 3yrs ago was 499 or something similar. I don't understand what you are trying to say.
Edt: A 1080Ti at $600 used would be an okay purchase though.

Halo: Reach on PC could be with us a lot sooner than we expected. Microsoft has confirmed the PC beta test for Halo Reach is already primed to go live, with Microsoft taking beta sign-ups through the Halo Insider program.
Interestingly, according to Microsoft, this test will be taking place on Steam, although it isn’t clear whether this is instead of, or alongside, a test on the Windows Store.

Thanks.
I heard on the GBE podcast that Reach will be rolled out first. I'm not excited about Reach but still will purchase.
Andrew might get his cards finally. I haven't really touched my PC in 4 months except to DL New Horizons but not play.

What will the MPer look like?

Good mattress and pillows.
I will, just don't know timeframe. Disabling a hard loop and putting a block on another card and redoing another loop isn't that fun. Esp since I don't use my main PC at all anymore. But giving me something to play will force me to face that annoying task.
Samsung phone update. It does come with very good speakers. Dolby Atmos is so damn clear. Perfect for podcast/voice.

Hey, folks. Please excuse the intrusion, but I have a quick question for you. I intend to upgrade my GPU soon and, following the advice of a different set of internet strangers, I'm leaning toward getting an RTX 2060, in order to get back to playing at 1440p with current releases. Is this wise?
Also, I suppose I should mention that I might want to dabble in VR, at some point.

I would lean 2070 over 2060. Especially if playing over 60fps.
Eta: if you can find a 1080ti cheaper than the 2070, it's probably a better deal until devs actually use dlss and ray tracing more frequently.
