That's sick. Do you think that can fit in a backpack?

I still can't decide on a mini itx or just get a 1060 laptop.

Maybe a very big one. It's a good bit bigger than an xbox one probably (don't have one to confirm though)

Lian li PC tu100b is a badass case. Here's my old portable PC. Had a 6700k, gtx 1070, 16gb ram and a 512gb m.2 SSD.

iTX is fun. Even water cooled a build inside a Fractal Node 300. Gaming laptops are mobile, iTX builds are usually just loud but fun. However, I don't game much anymore and the industry turned flat. If you travel for work, get a gaming laptop. Dell's extra series of the 7000s are great. Think I owned 3 last year, purchased around 10-12 gaming laptops and ultrabooks in 2018. I posted them here months back.

If you travel for work. Get you a gaming laptop. If you want to have fun with iTX builds. Build an iTX. But they aren't quiet, just remember.

If you just want to learn then look into SBCs. You can do multiple projects a month which are actually useful outside of gaming. You can do much more versatile projects and just learn. That is the fun part about builds and new projects.

I have things all over. Sometimes forget about them. Solar, mesh networks, trackers, motion detectors. I track the moving objects and index by color. Its weird but its projects.

Below is a simple relay hat for another alarm clock build. This one will be is a simple daylight alarm clock.

My main reason is to have a PC to take to MS when I have to go to my parents for an extended stay.

I don't travel much.

Then just bring the main rig to your parents? Surely they have an extra TV.

IMO it would benefit more to upgrade your main rig/setup/computer/gaming room instead of wasting $750 you won't get much use from if not traveling much.

But then again my 13" Yoga is my daily driver even when home. I just dual screen it. Mainly to keep the heat down in my computer room with the 4 TVs and monitor, servers, routers or whatever.

This is are the laptop pics I referred to last night. Think it started about form factor comparisons. Its useless in the conversation right now really but just found it.

I've got no need to upgrade what I have.

Getting a nice Ultrabook with an external video card would be a cool solution. You can leave the external video card at your parents and have a nice Ultrabook to use for everyday use

Not really.

If I have to leave home and work a project again I'm not bringing my main rig. Will do the external solution gpu.

Not nearly as expensive as I initially thought.

~$220 or less for a 1070
~$500-600 for the laptop
~whatever an exertnal video card case costs

I've got
M.2 nvme SSD 240GB
3TB HDD
8700K
GTX 1080
16GB 3200 MHz RAM
240hz Alienware monitor
75hz Asus monitor
Anne pro 2 mechanical keyboard
Final mouse air 58 and a g pro wireless mouse

I just don't know what would be better for a 1080p setup

I have a laptop already with a U powered I7. It is only running on the HD graphics.

You think that coupled with an external GPU would get the job done?
