So the ASRock Z270M ?
Also - can you recommend a PSU for this build?

Don't spend $85 on an EVGA PSU just because it's 80+ Gold.
Actually for an ITX build I would get an SFX or SFX-L PSU. The SFX-L is better as the SFX gets overheated easily and shuts off because the selective cooling doesn't work as well as they say.
I have this one in my ITX build

I think it's worth the extra money in an ITX build to get a small form factor PSU like I linked.

Ok cool i'll check it out. Overall I'm happy with this build - it should easily outperform laptops of equal price.

I would also check out used 1070s. They're sub $300 right now which is a great deal

Are you overclocking? If not, then no need for a 7700k.

Agreed

He's going with a z270 board so it'll fit the 7700k nicely.
I second stouts opinion too and go with a SFF PSU. You don't have to get one as nice as stouts, though

Worth noting that the 7700K has the highest multiplier, though, boosts to 4.5. Not a whole lot more $ (if any) to go from H to Z mobo and probably get it to 4.7 at a reasonable voltage/thermals. Those frickers do run hot though.
Stout, curious why you prefer SFX/SFX-L over ATX for SFF. I have zero experience with the SFX PSU form factor, so I'd by default pick an ATX unit when the case accommodates it (which apparently that Cooler Master does). I just don't really mess with SFF builds.

It's an absolute pain in the arse to build with an ATX PSU in SFF.
Edit: especially with full size video cards

Awesome. That fractal node 304 is sweet
Posted on 4/30/17 at 5:43 pm to Azazello
If you get one of those cases then I would highly recommend getting that ITX 1070
Posted on 4/30/17 at 5:47 pm to bluebarracuda
Will do. I also just saw that the FD Core 500 is supposed to be the update to the node 304 so I'll probably go with that one.

How hot? The 7700k is essentially just a refresh of the 6700k with higher clock speed and better graphics right?
I have not paid much attention to the Kaby Lake CPUs other than the HT enabled Pentiums, so I don't know too much about the specifics other than a lot of people choose to delid them to improve the temps.

Mine runs considerably hotter than a buddies 6700k when we both push them to 4.8 GHz. 20 deg C difference or more. Seems there are some decent chips that are sent out though, I wasn't one of the lucky ones.
It's actually pushed me from a closed loop to a custom loop. Waiting on a few parts to get here to start it.

Wow. That's crazy to be that much of a temperature difference with relatively the same architecture.
