Goldman Sachs Snaps Up $613 Million Worth Of AMD Stock

Now we know UH's employer. He must have advised the move.

When is VEGAs release? It is interesting this purchased the stock not right after 1080Ti NDAs lifted. Very interesting and could say something about VEGAs performance.

It's for Naples, AMD is apparently crushing benchmarks on the server side of things and partnered with Microsoft Cloud the other day.

AMD stock projection is 25/share by years end, that's when I cash out.

Microsoft is doing everything they can to move away from Intel.

Edt: well that isn't totally true. Really are just supporting every platform with more resources to prepare for the future.

Great updated review from anandtech on Ryzen today, listing all the Microsoft issues currently being fixed, and upgrading it to their recommended award.

Windows scheduler issues and CCX issues is causing Windows to think Ryzen is two 4c/8t CPUs not one 8c/16t.

Gonna grab a 1700X upgrade when the Windows patch hits, they said within a month they hope.

List of the current caveats AnandTech is aware of:

quote:

Windows 10 RTC disliking 0.25x multipliers, causing timing issues,
Software not reading L3 properly (thinking each core has 8MB of L3, rather than 2MB/core),
Latency within a CCX being regular, but across CCX boundaries having limited bandwidth,
Static partitioning methods being used shows performance gains when SMT is disabled,
Ryzen showing performance gains with faster memory, more so than expected,
Gaming Performance, particularly towards 240 Hz gaming, is being questioned,
Microsoft’s scheduler not understanding the different CCX core-to-core latencies,
Windows not scheduling threads within a CCX before moving onto the next CCX

Are they good again?

I quit reading Anandtech after Anand left for Apple. They really struggled finding what to focus on for awhile. I remember them being the first ones to really do deep technical reviews on smartphones. Lately it has been PCPer for me.

No they're still terrible. Moreso surprised they updated it, was very slanted initially.

Looks like I am rebuilding a little bit earlier than I wanted, lost my mobo sometime this week.

Gonna pick a 7700k while I am at it and say bye bye to the 4770k. What's out there that is good so far in mobo land?

Gonna snag a 1080ti once I see the version I want as well.

Even as it stands right now, the 1700X is a noticeable upgrade over my old 4770K in at least BF4, BF1, and Fallout 4 at 600 less MHz.

For sure, will only get better here soon as well.

As soon as the patches hit and mobos are in stock with a few bios updates, I'll be selling my 7700K for a 1700X.

I need to find a different SLI solution for my build. I just snagged a 3770k and mATX Mobo (Maximus gene V) for $120 on Craigslist, but there's no slot between the two video cards like on my old board. My poor top 970 gets up to ~90 degrees at full load with 100% fan.

May just find a good deal on Fury's or 980/980 tis with blocks and start a custom loop

What boards are you looking at? Was seriously thinking about a Gigabyte Gaming 7 when I was leaning 7700k, but I am starting to lean 1700x especially as I play more VR.

Considering a ROG Hero because if I will be upgrading firmware often, flashback is stupid simple and will get me out of any trouble I manage lol.

Gigabyte Aorus and the ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming, also looking at the Asus Crosshair but the Gigabyte is my top choice right now.

Looks like they just have their lower end Aorus stuff up on the website right now, so they aren't even out yet fully. No 7 listed, would like the creative onboard sound. I'm usually cheap and just use it.

It's going to be tough waiting for them to come out because I am down right now and itching to play. Hell I even lost the video card in my MAME cab, so I'm just down to my RPi emulators. Need to order a new ArcadeVGA. May end up going ROG Crosshair Hero. Supports AM3+ cooling.

Yeah I'll get the 5, I have a Soundblaster Z sound card.

The Crosshair is good, just worries me as it's the board that had the most problems for testers in reviews, was apparently the buggiest and needed some bios updates asap (it has a beta out now that appears to fix quite a few of them).
