I need to find a different SLI solution for my build. I just snagged a 3770k and mATX Mobo (Maximus gene V) for $120 on Craigslist, but there's no slot between the two video cards like on my old board. My poor top 970 gets up to ~90 degrees at full load with 100% fan.
May just find a good deal on Fury's or 980/980 tis with blocks and start a custom loop

For sure, will only get better here soon as well. As soon as the patches hit and mobos are in stock with a few bios updates, I'll be selling my 7700K for a 1700X.
What boards are you looking at? Was seriously thinking about a Gigabyte Gaming 7 when I was leaning 7700k, but I am starting to lean 1700x especially as I play more VR.
Considering a ROG Hero because if I will be upgrading firmware often, flashback is stupid simple and will get me out of any trouble I manage lol.

Gigabyte Aorus and the ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming, also looking at the Asus Crosshair but the Gigabyte is my top choice right now.

Looks like they just have their lower end Aorus stuff up on the website right now, so they aren't even out yet fully. No 7 listed, would like the creative onboard sound. I'm usually cheap and just use it.
It's going to be tough waiting for them to come out because I am down right now and itching to play. Hell I even lost the video card in my MAME cab, so I'm just down to my RPi emulators.

Yeah I'll get the 5, I have a Soundblaster Z sound card.
The Crosshair is good, just worries me as it's the board that had the most problems for testers in reviews, was apparently the buggiest and needed some bios updates asap (it has a beta out now that appears to fix quite a few of them).

Where are you seeing the best no bs reviews from people running them?

GamersNexus was the main one that had a bunch of issues with the Asus board.
Ryzen 5 launching April 11th. 4c/8t for $169, 6c/12t for $249. Daaaamn. 6 core it is.

I'll be very curious to see the benchmarks and reviews with the 1600x.
Deciding between that or the 1700x for my build this Summer.

Obviously a 6c/12t processor will fair better in Cinebench than a 4c/4t processor.
Really want to see the gaming numbers.

Wonder how it fairs against a 6700k, 75$ cheaper then what I paid.

PC Build Simulator
This could be pretty damn useful for the first-time builders out there, if they keep the catalog of parts up to date and more comprehensive. But I doubt there will be enough interest for it to be worth all the effort.

You're krazyattack on steam right? If so, we need to play some h1z1 sometime. We usually have 2-4 playing

Hi PCMR people.
When the AIB partner custom 1080ti's hit the shelves, I'll be stopping at my local Microcenter to pick one up. When that day comes, if there is anyone here looking to do a CPU/motherboard upgrade, I would gladly pick it up for you that same day and ship it out to you. I would only be able to do it for one person as they limit you to 1 per customer in most cases.
In case you weren't aware, you won't find a better price on a CPU/motherboard combo anywhere else. Having a Microcenter near me in an urban tax zone (3.5% sales tax) is probably the only thing about New Jersey that I like.
