No, $299 I'm sure

Oh man, awesome. Seriously awesome entry card with great performance right when PCs can grab some more consolers during this period of VR.

Maybe the 1500MHz OC card since it benches just below a 980ti but I still doubt it

Don't get me started on OC cards vs stock cards.

Remember that shitty looking Sapphire RX 480 that was leaked earlier? This new design looks WAY better.

Asus just revealed the strix coming soon.

They need to get the ROG 1080 out there first.

Glad they made the change.

Green Bay fans might be upset.

Wow the all black looks slick, will go nice with my all black setup I'm going for. Sucks there are no sales on the motherboards I want looks like they're waiting for the 4th otherwise I would buy everything today.

Also can't decide if I want to go 6700k or 6600k. Want to future proof this as much as possible but don't know if there is that much of a difference if I'm primarily using this for gaming and the occasional spreadsheet.

I'm going to bed, but leaving this reddit thread here for people to peruse. I skimmed it a little and will read more tomorrow if I can. Regarding the 480 drawing too much power from the pcie slot.

Something fricky is going on.

Theres no way AMD would ship out those cards if they violated ATX/PCI-E spec.

Maybe they got sent the wrong batch?

That's an elementary design issue for all graphics cards. Something wrong like that should've been caught well early in testing before production.

Well technically it's an easy fix with a bios update (not sure if driver update can), but the PCI-SIG will be in some serious trouble for passing the cards if not. That's part of the R&D, them passing the cards for certification upon their tests. So either PCI-SIG just passed them anyways, or got a good batch.

Why use the word no way?

Stupid shtt happens all the time.

Edt: wasn't it known that they are getting oddly hot? During a PCPer podcast 2 weeks before launch Ryan was joking about "not to touch the cards during benchmarking" with other comments like "keep hands off".

Never looked into it, just though AMD shipping 300watts to achieve 1500mhz.

Let's review the limits. I didn't read that credit post yet but correct me if I'm wrong.

For each 6pin connector on a 12v rail you can draw 75W and 150W from an 8pin. Max draw on a PCI-E slot is 75W, period correct?

So at the most the card is pulling 225W if it has 2x6pins and 375W lol if 2 8 pins. 225 isn't that much but 375 certainly is.

Oh shtt lol

The card is pulling over 75W outta the PCIe. Lmao. So it's a standard issue. Lol wow. I want that card, burn it up!

Edt: could you imagine all the neebs flashing their vBIOS with an AMD fix and bricking them lol

This is an interesting situation.

Edt2: those cards only have 1x6pin and they are pulling everything outta the MOBO to hold clocks?

Does the chip need this much to hold clocks so AMD thought they could sneak by or its just a flaw.

Kinda glad I didn't jump on the 480 yet, some issues need to be ironed out apparently.

Newegg seems to be able to get their hands on them a lot more than other retailers and I don't know how but I will not buy from Newegg. I am waiting for the GTX 1080 ROG Strix and Amazon seems to get a limited supply each day that I always miss. I think in the next two weeks we will see supply loosen up.

What's up with newegg, was planning on buying my parts from them. Is their return policy horrible?

I have had two problems with RMAs and they do shady things like list 1080s out of stock on their site to sell them for much more on their ebay site.

Some people have had no issues with them, but they have been horrible for me. Sent me a MOBO with bent pins and when I sent it back they said I did it and refused the return.

Return policy is great, but not better than Amazon's and shipping is like being raped.
