Max draw on a PCI-E slot is 75W, period correct?

Yes and they posted in that thread they were getting 80-83W on average.

I'd venture to say if all of this is correct, a lot of low end mobo's could be in danger if they were paired with this card as is.

shipping is like being raped

How so? I frequently get free one day shipping through eggsaver. It looks I'll have my RX 480 today actually.

I think it has to do with a facility being in Memphis?

Anyone have experience with an Muskin SSD? They have a 480gb one on Ebay with a promo for $80. Best deal I have seen on a SSD.

The bigger concern would be trying to do a budget crossfire build. PCIe lane requirements for crossfire are very lax, requiring only 4 PCIe lanes per card, which means you can find $75 motherboards with H- and B-series chipsets that'll do crossfire (simply because they have an extra PCIe 2.0 slot with access to a few lanes), but are most certainly not equipped to handle that kind of power draw continuously. Even worse for all-AMD builds if someone tries to do that with a 970 (socket AM3+) chipset. But for more realistic builds, it won't be a problem. It's still pretty interesting from a legal standpoint, so I'm curious how it'll play out.

Well it's in.

I'll put it in my main system for now, it's long term destination will be my HTPC but I'll give it a spin for a good bit.

So far so good with the card. Runs hot but it's a reference card so what do you expect. Set the fans higher in the new Wattman software and Im cool with it.

Performance has been fine, handles Witcher 3 at 1080p alright. I'll compare it to my 380X when recording later.

Amazon tells me exactly when I'm going to get an item before I buy it. No prime account?

Nah, too cheap. Either way, having to wait five days before it even hits the road is unusual.

Well.. get prime like everyone else?

If you are truly too cheap you would get Prime to save you money.

Prime is an investment which returns value in an area we don't usually see a return in, consumer goods.

I dont use amazon enough to justify it.

If you're response to 5 days handling time to what is supposed to be 3 day shipping is "pay money to get service" then frick that. Asinine.

Me complaining about this is not unwarranted or unreasonable.

Gotcha. Amazon is great, but what makes it great is Prime TBH. Free 2 day shipping on almost any item, discounts from being a Prime member and plus the array of movies/shows is worth it.

Well yeah I see your point but Prime is really fckking cheap @ $99. You get a lot for the $99 1yr investment.

I can get a damn table saw that is cheaper than Lowes, no taxes and shipped in 2days for free. lol Now that is service.

So how are the temps on the card? What are you coming from again?

Glad you got it in before this long weekend!

Have you tried Steam streaming? Ever since this came out in 2013/2014 it has saved me tons of money with my HTPCs. The Steam Link has also made in-home streaming super easy and is pushing Valve to make improvements to the platform at a faster rate.

Gotcha. Amazon is great

If anything, thats mainly what im complaining about. I dont use Amazon that often but theyve been fantastic to me thus far. I have no idea what happened this time.

As for the card, shes definitely running hot unless you set the fan to go as high as it can go manually. Stock its about 61 C. Drops down to about the low 40's with the speeds up. Not going to overclock it for this reason.

Performance wise its better than my 380X and I havent had issues with power draw as some have reported. Ill use this in my main system until Vega rolls around and then ill replace the GTX 950 in my HTPC with this.

Any vBIOS fixes on any forums? I haven't read into it at all except at a glance this morning.

Will check tomorrow if any OCN member has a custom firmware which fixes or helps control the issues a little better.

I havent exactly checked very hard but I imagine it wont be long before the issue is fixed. Im not too worried about it since im not using crossfire and I think my board is fine. Whenever a fix is released ill update.

Gotcha.

I do always run custom firmwares because they usually offer greater voltage control, higher overclocks, better fan control and better clock boost curves or w/e its called on AMD cards.

Its a nice card for that price, congrats.
