Seriously though. If you are doing a build, mATX is silly. ATX or iTX is sort of perfect. mATX thats too many features away while not much space. We really never had a proper middle between ATX and iTX.
That iTX board you linked. Is that out? I can't open the link right now but remember one being announced from like ASRock.

Never have done a mATX build before.
The smallest form factor build I've ever worked on was an old Shuttle HPC back in 2004ish.
That thing was a royal PITA to put together. There was no cable management at all.

Tom's Hardware on the i7-6800k
Seems like heat is a significant issue when overclocking past 4 GHz.

Intel's Core i7-6800K is fairly efficient at its stock clock rates. At 4.0GHz, though, both power use and waste heat increase significantly. While it's possible to push this chip all the way to 4.4GHz, the resulting performance gains just aren’t worth the insane consumption at that speed.
Air cooling is really only an option if you run the -6800K at its stock frequencies. A simple closed-loop liquid cooler is needed to step up to 4.0GHz. At 4.4GHz, there’s no way around a true open-loop setup. For example, a Corsair H100i that we tried was overwhelmed after just 12 minutes, after which the processor throttled due to core temperatures in excess of 90 degrees Celsius.
The amount of waste heat generated by an overclocked Core i7-5960X is manageable. But for Broadwell-E, better heat management is a must.

If you have proper cooling who cares out the power consumption. Yes you get degradation over time with running those extra volts but it will take 3-4yrs to notice an impact.

WTF?
This sounds a little crazy. 90 degrees is extreme unless they are running some burn ins. What tests are being run? Please link the article.
I would venture to say that the chip was not getting over 60C in gaming situations with a H100i. The only case would be that they have no idea how to OC and threw a ton of volts at the thing.
EDT:
The thing doesn't have issues with heat. The 90C was a 1hr torture test. $1.5K in custom loop equipment would still get my 4930K up around 70C if running a 1hr torture test. The chip didn't even break 50C with our in Last Light @ 1.45 vCore. You could probably achieve 4.4 with 1.42 vCore with a little IO tweaking.

I have the z170 version of that board in my build.

Great board. Im a MSI MOBO fanboy.. excluding their gaming series.
The only way to pull the trigger..
Fckk it!

Me too, fricking love me some MSI these days. My Gaming M7 is the best mobo I have ever owned and so sexy.

I just like a quality motherboard without the gimmicks. My MPower fits the bill. Gigabyte is good about that, too.
Sure wish actual adults had more designs to choose from, though. Even ASRock, the once king of bullshite-free designs, has unleashed this abomination.

Me too, just give me what I want, sexy color scheme and design, and great features.

I'd like plain black PCB with removable paintable heatsink trims/accents, maybe an i/o shield or some shite. Then people can paint their own dragons and bullets.

No "schemes", we have enough of those.
All black or all white (hard to do) but just simple and clean. Most of the boards on the market look like clown cars.

This is my setup, black and white can look nice when you can match things up.

When I said white (hard to do) I meant the manufacter of white MOBOs is extremely hard due to containments. Sorry.
..yeah, nice setup. What case is that?
MSI MOBO.. check!

No problem, and the case is a NZXT S340.
CPU is really aging now but Zen is around the corner.

So I think I have a build in mind, any thoughts or suggestions from you experts?
pcpartpicker list
I think I'm gonna go with the GTX 1070 so I dont have a video card on there.

Looks good. Good overall picks

My only criticism is that if you're going that high-end, you should top it off with a 950 Pro.
EDIT: I think more important might be better cooling. You're spending a lot (probably more than you think you should) on a high-quality motherboard. Might as well put a Noctua on the CPU and get as much of an OC on air out of it as you can. Otherwise, I'd tell most people to shave $50+ off the motherboard, drop down to an i5, and use the hyper 212 to OC the i5 to match the i7's clock speed pretty easily.

Yea I looked at a couple of Noctua's but I wasnt sure how big a difference the more expensive ones make. I had the Cooler Master one on my old build and was pretty happy with how it preformed. I also thought about doing liquid cooling but I dont have any experience with it so I'm a little hesitant to try it.
I've got a buddy who owns his own PC store and he said he can get most the parts for me wholesale so I'm going a little more expensive than I usually would.
