Did he tell you prices? You might be very surprised how close wholesale price is to what you'd pay at Newegg or Amazon. Stout knows more about that than I do.

Yea he told me it isn't always a big difference and sometimes only a couple of dollars, but I'll take it . I had budgeted about $1700ish for this build so the cheaper I can get parts the more money I have to invest in other parts.

I was looking at the Noctua's and I'm definitely gonna go ahead and upgrade the CPU cooler. Watched some video's on the 950 pro too and now I've just about decided to upgrade to that if I can fit it in the budget.

Honestly, I think you could still shave $50 off the motherboard and lose nothing. Price is not indicative of quality, nor are progressions in model numbers. Did you compare the M7's features to the M5? Or the Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 5.

Really, with some standard prioritization, you can fit a GTX 1080 in the budget. (Wait until the non-founders editions are released). Easily done by dropping down to an i5 because hyperthreading generally doesn't matter, going with the Bronze version of the EVGA because the overall efficiency is marginal, pirate Windows because all the cool kids do it, and go with the gigabyte gaming 5 or MSI M5. Even with the Noctua and a 950 Pro, that would put your tower right around $1700.

Now, if the budget needs to include a 1440P or 4K monitor, never mind!

A lot of really good suggestions, I changed my part list around and you're right, with a 1080 it comes in right under $1700.

Just ordered a 1080 but it's not supposed to be here until the 16th since they are back ordered.

The only I could find that won't have me waiting for 3 months.

PNY founders edition. Not a big fan of PNY but it's a reference card so they can't frick that up.

I would be envious of that build.

My 980s are going to be so worthless by the time I sell them.

Idk about no worries 4k. That is still hard to push, reason why SLi 1080s aren't exactly the best upgrade option for my SLi 980 Tis. None the less I'm excited at the others features offered by Little Pascal. The biggest being mV, my little 12x16 office can get hot with a server, monitors and my main rig running.

What monitor are you getting? I need one also. Can't really find something suitable. Almost went CrossOver again for 4K but really want something with GSync now.

Not even sure yet but the 4K demo monitors they had at microcenter gave me a boner.

Yeah same here. Just heard to find a 4K monitor which has all the features I want for an upgrade. Between a few of us in here like UH and LSUToo, I know we speak of upgrading but nothing meant a reasonable price point.

HWC - iTX case is awesome

I taught a lot about streaming to the LR and BR from my main rig. It is great, awesome actually. But nothing beats playing locally with 0 lag or compression on the image.

Would look great in the living room.
