299 for an i7? Is it unlocked? That is awesome.
I've been going to Dallas multiple times a month and will continue to do so until 2017. Need to remember that I should buy my cards at the Microcenter there and just fly with them back home.
Edt: Fckk its like almost in Plano. I'm Uptown and not making that hike in an Uber.

This one is a 15 minute Uber ride from my hotel. Not bad at all.

If you're talking about video cards, they aren't really cheap there. They are generally retail price plus tax, if not higher, and the AIB selection is pretty meager.

That is true. MC is only good for CPU/MOBO and maybe RAM deals.
I have purchased anything outside of stock for the main rig since maybe even my 670s. When I upgraded those it was all stock and WBs from a 690, TITANs, 780 Tis and now 980 Tis. I did purchase single 780 Lightening, ACX 980 and some AMD cards since then but not for the main rig. You know if we are slapping WBs on them that more cost doesn't need to be added with AIB boards or coolers.

The salesman also had the kid ready to buy $400 worth of ram.
Jesus... What RAM was that? Even for 64 GB, $400 for RAM is WAY WAY too much.

That's probably what Dominator Platinum kits are going for.
I didn't realize they worked on commission. When I was in Baltimore and listening in on a customer getting build help, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the employee giving practical advice. The biggest offense I heard was recommending a full tower for build quality, but I can let that slide.

I'll pay that for Dominator Platinums. Really cleans up a system and something you don't upgrade each refresh cycle.

Oh true, Linus worked at NCIX not a Microcenter.

Somebody in China could make a killing selling replica Dom Platinum ramsinks.

I am in town one more night and decided to go back and get the 6800K over this 6700K because it's on sale there right now for $399 there. I will just have to do a mATX build vs ITX.

RE: 1080 OC
LINK
Now that it's getting close I am doing some reading, the 1080 isn't getting a lot of love from the 980ti crowd, I guess I just need to find out how much of a boost I would get with one 1080 vs the two 970's.

RE: 1080 throttling. Recent reviews show that this is not the case, really. They OC just great. And the custom cooled cards are breaking through 2ghz with ease on air. So threadcrappers can crap themselves.

Yeah, those posts read like bitter trolls, perhaps people who broke down and bought 980 Tis just a couple months ago. Of course, all of us Maxwell owners should fear the NVIDIA tactic of releasing Pascal-optimized drivers that cripple older-gen cards.

From what I gather the 1070 and 1080 were "OC'd" near their max at the factory leaving little room for the end user to improve on.

You'll need an x99 microatx board for the i6800k.
Let me know how it turns out. I have a spare brand new Antec microatx case laying around that I am tempted to put to good use...
