Same. Not doing an incremental upgrade this time around. A pair of 1080s would almost double my 980s, so 4Q16/1Q17 should bring something that truly warrants a monitor upgrade.

I need the help of you crazy frickers here. I know a few of my viewers on Twitch are looking to get a pre-built PC to get into streaming with OBS over streaming straight from PS4. They have zero idea on how to assemble one which is why they want to go the pre-built route. Where is the best place to look for pre-built PCs? They are just going to be using the PC to run OBS, music, and a capture card like an El Gato. They won't be running any PC games while streaming. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Asus showed off their prototype 4K 144Hz monitor. Oh baby. Definitely definitely waiting for those bad boys.

Was hoping we'd hear/see some DP1.3 monitors.

I don't. I couldn't handle the convenience like a responsible adult. Years ago, before I knew about Microcenter, I'd have dreams in which local stores started selling custom water-cooling parts. The dreams would actually make me sad for a while after waking up.

I was only there for 20 minutes today. Going back tomorrow for much longer. The amount of stuff they have in the store is sort of overwhelming to be honest.

It is overwhelming for sure. Some of the coolest, most obscure shite is just hiding in plain sight in a sea of standard, innocuous products. I liked to browse the tools for stuff I didn't know I wanted.

The first time I stepped foot in a Micro Center was in Baltimore a few years ago. Had nothing else to do before my flight and ended up spending about 2 1/2 hours in the store. That location is actually one of the smaller ones at 30k square foot (vs. the 40k+ average), and it's the only one I've visited. I went back to it a few months ago. I enjoyed playing around with the high-end laptops and monitors, and their test mech. keyboard that has various switch types. First time I'd seen a 3d printer in person. Good opportunity to inspect computer cases in person, too. Lots of well-reviewed cases that look good online are actually pretty shitty in person.

I was really hoping to come across someone gathering parts for a high-end build so that I could help, but their PC hardware department employees are too attentive and helpful.

My PC that I built six years ago finally crapped out a couple of weeks ago so I'm having to use my ancient desktop that I bought in 2008 .

Bright side is that I can finally justify spending the money on a new build so I'm trying to catch up on the current landscape of PC parts. I'm not really an enthusiast and only really kept a passing knowledge of whats been going on, but I'm enjoying doing all the research as I try to decide what I want to build.

That reminds me. I should probably update the PC guide. Guess I'll have to wait until more of the new cards are out, because NVIDIA is the only high-end option right now when you consider price.

Yea. Needed one for my office I am moving into July 1st so I'll move my current ITX build there and this new one is for home. My other one is still rocking DDR3 and a 3770K with a 390X so I was due for an upgrade. Grabbed a 6700K for it.

The best card they had was a 980Ti Classified and I wasn't about to buy a 980Ti for full price with 1080s out and they were too high on GPUs for some reason.

Need a case and an HDD also. They were also too high on 3TB HDDs.

So I overpaid for the fans it appears and saved like $40 overall since taxes would balance shipping from the places that don't ship free.

They have everything you can imagine. I really wanted to throw a 3D printer in the basket and run out the store. They have the demo 3D printers printing stuff constantly.

They have every Raspberry Pi kit you can buy online in the store as well as all of the USB Nintendo controllers to connect to them. They also have those small Zotac and Gigabyte micro PCs, DJ Phantoms and other drones, surveyance systems, hobby kits to build circuits, 4K and 1440P monitors on display, every gaming mouse and keyboard you can imagine, headsets, etc

I pulled an LSUToo BTW

The salesmen are on commission and some salesman was about to sucker a kid into a $500 mobo with shite on it the kid would never use. The kid was doing video editing and grabbed a 6800K so I showed him which mobo would be better and told him to use the saved money for an H115i, some better fans, a larger SSD, etc.

The salesman also had the kid ready to buy $400 worth of ram. 64GB worth and I asked the kid if he was building a server and he said no so we got that straight too.

The kid thanked me and asked for my email to send me some more questions later on.
