I am still back and forward on a micro PC to put in my entertainment center. I think for $30 more than that build I did the other day this would handle things better. I don't need to go mITX with the way my component cabinet is set up.

Thoughts?

So far you are, what cooling do you have because I believe haswell is hotter than sandy

A custom loop with 2x 240 and 1x 120 rads with Scythe Gentle Typhoons, Laing D5 Vario pump. Loop includes 2 7970s with Heatkiller full cover blocks, and I'm ordering the XSPC raystorm CPU block to replace my Rasa -- the thermal performance difference between them is significant enough at higher temps to warrant the upgrade I think.

I know Haswell is hotter, as was Ivy Bridge. It's not clear to me, however, if Haswell is hotter than Ivy Bridge. If it's Sandy < Ivy Bridge < Haswell for heat output, there might be cause for concern, but there's not a whole lot I can really do to improve my current cooling other than getting a second pump to run dual loops, or delving into other cooling types that I'd prefer not to be distracted by. I suppose I could always do push/pull to help things out a little.

Just went several pages back to find your last build but gave up. What changed between that one and the one you just posted? Everything looks good. Awesome price on the case. I assume you're planning to do some moderate/medium gaming with that card.

If needed you could always delid it.

I am considering it, but it scares me.

Hypothetically, not saying I would ever do such a thing, but is it possible for someone to hide a botched delidding, use something to reglue the IHS, and get an RMA for the CPU?

Other build

CPU AMD A10-6800K 4.1GHz Quad-Core $139.99
Motherboard ASRock FM2A75 Pro4-M Micro ATX FM2 $64.99
Memory G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 $63.90
Storage Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM $59.98
Case Fractal Design Core 1000 USB 3.0 MicroATX Mid Tower $24.99
Power Supply Corsair 500W ATX12V $39.99

Total $393.84

Was going to do an APU and maybe crossfire later but I think I will just go stand alone GPU since I am sticking with mATX instead if mITX for it.

Okay, I agree. mATX with a dedicated GPU will prove to be a more stable build I think.

don't think so. the only thing you can really screw up with the delid is if you scratch the die or hit other components on the PCB with the razor. I think they would probably find that, not to mention that the thermal compound they use is a hell of a lot different than the liquid metal commonly used to delid.

You think a 650Ti 2GB is the best option for the $130 price range?

My goal is to be around $400 for the total build.

The only other contender I can think of is the 7770 2GB from ASUS for around the same price, but I don't know off hand if it's better. Probably not.

Also, I'm getting this in the mail tomorrow: LINK

It's a single 8GB stick, if you want to buy it from me. I have no use for it so I was going to eBay it.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm enjoying it. Some of the game mechanics have some serious problems, but only because I'm comparing it to Skyrim.

This game would be improved greatly if they incorporated free running, or kept it open like Skyrim.
