Don't pay big money atleast for software. I payed $5 for webroot. I like the program so $5 worked for me but I wouldn't pay $50.

Following the intel conversation...

So, can I buy a game on GOG.com right now, and then download it onto my PC whenever I build it? The Witcher 2 is on sale for $6 and I don't want to miss out on a deal like that.

Yes.

You can also download it to as many PCs as you want though they can't be accessed at the same time if it's through Steam.

Awesome.

Just bought it. Has anyone played The Witcher 1 as well? May buy it once I have my PC.

I have the witcher 1 but haven't played it yet. I picked it up in the winter steam sale.

Just confirming -- GOG.com buys can be added to steam like some amazon buys?

It should say if it's a Steam key or not in the description.

Anyone need a gaming keyboard?

It says MW3 on it but it's still a damn good Logitech for $27.

Thx. I might buy all the wing commanders for nostalgia. Anyone else see any great deals? Gonna buy Witcher 2 at least.

Program macros, backlit keys, quicker response times, no ghosting, etc

A lot of them tout lower latency. It might be true, though I haven't noticed too much. It's probably more true with mechanical keyboards.

I'm more concerned about the look and feel of a keyboard. I'm very picky. I'm a fan of the mechanical keyboards and the way they feel and sound, but the computer is in the bedroom, so I don't own one out of respect for my wife (They're loud, like the IBM keyboards of the 80s and 90s)

I also like other features such as lighted keys, extra buttons for macros and such, and I like my G510's display. You can make it display a lot of different stuff like FPS, CPU and other hardware usage, temps, even news headlines. I mostly use it to display the time so my evening gaming session doesn't turn into 4am

A cool but unnecessary feature of my keyboard is being able to change the backlight color to any RGB color.

I use mine to view my Skype messages and manage Skype calls so I don't have to alt tab out of a game or play in Windowed mode just to use Skype while playing.

Makes sense. Right now I'm using a wireless keyboard. It's not the best I know but it works. I finally got off the wireless mouse though. It was fine for general use but I noticed it during gaming.

My Haswell and my Seasonic came in today. I just kind of grunted at the Haswell and set it aside, but this Seasonic is a thing of beauty.

Believe it or not, I've never owned a fully modular PSU, just semi. Although I don't see the point in being able to disconnect the 8 and 24-pin connectors.

My motherboard comes in tomorrow, but I still have to wait until Friday or Saturday to build anything because that's when my new block will probably arrive.

Intel is daring AMD to come up with an angle to steal pc enthusiast market right now.

And even though it accounts for probably 15% of the direct market; I know that I personally account for at least 30 people's computer choices that know nothing about hardware, and also think I enjoy IT work on my spare-time.

I'm kinda pissed that I have to take a new generation product and physically alter it in a way which presents risks of ruining it; just to get equal upside that last generation had. frick intel.

My haswell gets here next week

Now you can have custom color connectors on both sides of the cable! A whole new world

ETA2:

I don't doubt they come out with a block to delidding next generation aswell.

AMD only needs to come up with a mainstream gaming platform that can match Haswell clock for clock and overclock a little better (thereby outperforming it). They could even charge a few dollars more. Instead, AMD is trying to throw a $900 gimmick CPU up against the enthusiast/extreme series Intel.

AMD has made some odd choices but for strictly gaming, the 8350 is no slouch.

Gods of the Master Race,

I am about to start constructing a gaming rig. I have lurked this thread for a while and honestly have no idea what you folks are talking about half of the time. With that said,I will be buying parts and assembling my own PC which will run windows 7. I am looking for help from you guys on part selection.

My budget is relatively loose, but I am hoping to get all the parts I need for the tower and monitor (not keyboard, mouse, or OS) for around $1300.

I would really like to be able to play all the current games at maximum settings. This goal of this build is for when Battlefield 4 releases, but I don't believe those specs are available yet.

Whatcha got?

eta: I was looking at maybe putting the AMD FX-8350 with the MSI GeForce GTX 770. Do you guys think that could handle the games?

Your budget should be fine for this if you are going to play at 1080p. If you want 1440p maxed out it might be a bit of a stretch.
