They let you install onto a new drive?
Let's back up - this was a new build and I bought a Windows 10 license for it.
Mechanically, if you're taking advantage of the free upgrade, I don't know the exact process.
They don't care about the hard drive, so maybe call them. They lock it to the motherboard. They may be able to talk you through downloading and installing through a disc or USB that you make - and use your old product key.

Downloading a Windows 10 torrent with a built-in activator would be less complicated

daz loader v2.2.2 works on W10 and Server2012 R2 as long as its not a UEFI+GPT install.

Looking to make some improvements to my gaming machine for 2016. I'm hoping you folks here can help me...
Current setup:
i5 2500k
GTX 560 Ti
16 GB RAM
Asus P8Z68-V Mobo
I built this back in 2012.. figured it was time for an upgrade.
The monitor I use was bought back in 2013 and needs to be upgraded as well I find..
Where should I start? I was thinking upgrading the GPU and Monitor early this year.. is that a bad place to start?
Any parts you guys could recommend as well? I'm on a $700 budget that I was hoping to use on GPU/Monitor combo.
ETA - Monitor refresh rate is 60hz with a 5ms response time.. not impressive, eh.
Thanks!

Monitor upgrade : Qnix 27inch 1440p $219
As for video card, you might be better holding for a bit. There is some new tech in the works for GPU memory, so a strategy may be to wait until it is released. At that point you can either jump on the bleeding edge or take advantage of a price drop in the current tech.
If you need a new GPU asap, I'd grab an R9 390x in the sub $400 range. It'll play pretty much anything you need @ 1440p.

Agree with waiting on the next generation of NVIDIA GPUs which should be out this summer or spring(?). But that and a new monitor is where I would start.

frick this hotel wifi
They have free and "premium" internet. After I did the speed test and got the above result, I immediately paid for two days of premium internet (company reimbursable). Speed test gives the same result. I'm getting it taken off my bill out of principle. I'm about to tether LTE from my phone.

Yeah, I could always play black ops II. That's about all this mobile HD 5870 can handle. Well, CS:GO I suppose.
But also, I didn't bring a mouse. So, it's intermittently buffering HD porn for me tonight.

God damn is the ISP in the Australian outback or something? I'd demand it be taken off my bill and be given a free adult rental.

Thanks for the reply!
What about that monitor do you like (Besides the price)?
What should I look for in a monitor in general?

For a 1440p gaming monitor there is nothing i dont like about that unit @ $220. Depending on the unit you may be able to get it up to 120hz (but at least something in the 90hz range for sure). You should pair it with that 390x Gardoki linked. Best $600 upgrade you could possibly make imo.

I could get the monitor any day!
Posted on 2/2/16 at 11:43 am to Mr Gardoki
Understood. But 300 bucks today won't get you the same as 300 bucks in six months. Just downscale to 1080 for a few months.
