I will say the one thing I don't like about the pc part picker is that shipping is often not shown. So when you go to 2-3 different less popular websites each having 1-2 parts, the shipping can creep up.

Just solidifying that no developer anywhere has any incentive whatsoever to take the gaming community seriously.

OutletPC is the biggest offender. They often undercut the lowest vendor price on a part by a dollar, or even a penny, but hide their shipping costs. NCIXUS does this too, but not as consistently as OutletPC. I think in future PCPartPicker lists, I'm going to exclude OutletPC completely. Personally, I only order parts from Amazon or Newegg unless I absolutely need something that's not on either of those sites.

After comparing it to the breakdown by merchant list you gave me, paying for shipping at OutletPC and NCIXUS it is still cheaper than going with all newegg/amazon so that is what I went with.

Have you looked in to going to micro center?

It's a shame. There are more pressing issues that need to be addressed with some or many PC games but the shite community bitches about stupid shite so other things go unfixed or unnoticed.

Despite your probably very good advice, I have just ordered everything through PC part picker.

Micro center is heaven for PC parts

So it sounds like Skylake-K is going to hit this year afterall?
Posted on 3/12/15 at 10:06 pm to UltimateHog
Yep. Also, the Z170 chipset apparently will support 20 PCIe 3.0 lanes, so assuming a Skylake K will support at least another 16, that means 4-way SLI support on a non-enthusiast platform, no PLX chip needed.

Good thing I randomly decided to search for an update on Skylake today, I was very close to buying a combo upgrade kit with a 5820K, mobo, ddr4 ram. Didn't want to wait until 2016.

Well, Skylake IPC probably won't be improved to the point of outperforming a 6-core Haswell-E, so there's still reason to go that route, but that reason has never been for gaming obviously.

Right, still rather have Skylake-K though. Wasn't going to wait until 2016, but with 2015 apparently happening, easy choice now.

Yeah, every time I consider the jump to the enthusiast platform, I eventually come to my senses. Cost of entry is high, and I'll rarely see the benefit. Sucks that I'll have to retire my DDR3 at the next upgrade regardless. And there are still no DDR4 kits faster than my DDR3.

So, if selling my wife allowed me to spend more money, lets say $8-900 instead of the $700 I originally said, would I just be looking at upgrading the GPU or potentially the mobo and CPU as well?
ETA:
Was looking at upgrading to the following cards:
PowerColor AXR9 290X 4GBD5-TDHE ($279)
Sapphire Radeon R9 290 4GB Tri-X ($279)

Yeah, just GPU. 290X would be good.

Thanks.
I got two things ordered yesterday before my card got declined for suspicious activity. I have the ability to change it up a little bit. My wife was also expecting everything to be a lot more expensive so I got some more room to work with.

According to Newegg the specifications on the 290X GPU I am looking at requires a 750W power supply. PCPartpicker and the powersupplycalculator.net shows at most I need a 630W power supply.
Do I have to have a minimum 750W or can I stick with a 630W?
