9 year old wants to get it. I'd love to hear opinions before I buy it. Younger kid friendly? Should I push her towards a different game?

Is there any Mario game that isn't kid friendly? MAYBE the Lost Levels?

Mario Odyssey is incredibly forgiving. When you die, you lose a few coins and start right back where you left off. It’s also a 3D Mario game, so it’s ridiculously well made. Should be good for your kid.

I meant more in terms of difficulty.

It's a great game for all ages imo with some fun throw backs for us old people

I have 5 and 7 year old boys. They love the game and play it nonstop. My 7 year old can beat most of the bosses and my 5 year old can be many of them.

My five year old plays it. That have a guide mode that is friendly to young players.

My niece turns 7 in July and she's playing it by herself right now. Kids that grew up with technology will often surprise you with how capable they can be with computers/games.

My kids started playing it at 7 and 5 and both love it (as long as it's on assist mode).

A 6 year old should be good with it honestly.

It's Nintendo. They are at pros at making a game that both an adult can enjoy and a 6 year old can play and enjoy.

Feel no fear in that purchase.

I loved playing it. My 6yr old son loves it more.

You should look at the new Super Mario 3D World + Bowsers Fury too

For those who have played both, which is the better game? Odyssey or 3D world? I’m seeing some people finishing the new game In 4 hours.

Odyssey easily.

But they are different games actually.

3D world is more like a smaller Mario 3, made in 3D.

Odyssey is like a bigger SM64

My kids love Mario Odyssey. My five year old is currently playing and I can hear him in the other room screaming about Bowser because he keeps losing

I don’t play many video games anymore, but I can tell you that almost the entire Mario lineup is kid friendly.

My son started playing it at 5. He beat it at 6. I think she’ll be more than fine.
