I've cleared all my contracts. No idea if that's all of them in game, but my highest level contract was a Griffin (recommended level 35).

Haven't gotten the griffin contract yet.
I have a lvl 30 and 33 left and I will do those tonight along with killing that basilisk on Bald Mountain.

Spoilers - Yen's romance quest Last Wish
I hate how I have to choose how to interact with her. I want to end up with Triss, but damn that scene telling her that I didn't love her anymore was painful. Sorry, Yen.

Hit lvl 31 so I mastercrafted all of my gear.
Went back to the lvl 32 basilisk and wasted it. Hit the lvl 30+ spider and laughed at it.
Hit the lvl 35 griffin and utterly embarrassed it.
No more witcher contracts. I haz sad.
Might chill out the rest of the week and finish the main story this weekend.

Spoilers - Yen's romance quest Last Wish
Yeah, I am playing my second go around and went with Triss this time, I had the same thoughts. Of course when I went with Yen the first time and let Triss leave at the docks it was the same thing just in the other direction. I love Dykstra's responses either way you go there. Though breaking up with Yen does make for an epic meltdown from her in Kaer Morhen going off on Geralt.

I hit it all.
Keira, the chick in Skellige, Triss, Yenefer. Only thing missing was some quality Succubus fun.
From what I have read, the ladies aren't going to be too happy since I told Triss I loved her and then a few days later I was banging Yenefer.

Ok, so I was in skellige and there was an explanation point with a guy ready to start a quest. I walked up to him and hit x to talk to him and accidentally looted the box that he was standing on causing the troops to attack me. After I thought they had killed me, I didn't die, but woke up and message said they had taken some gold. Looked at inventory and half my gold is gone, I am so pissed

restart point.
That's why I save often.
I did that when I first started. Accidentally looted a box and got beat up and robbed.

It auto saved right when I woke up, and my other saves were before I sexed triss, way back when

I save all the time. Anytime I run a long way away or after just about any fight. I've got like 10 saves rolling and just always save to the oldest.

Whatsup everyone - I am burnt out on GTAV and Forza Horizon 2 and would like to branch out to something different and am highly considering picking up Witcher 3. With that being said I have never played an RPG before and I have read a lot about the game but I just do not know if I might like the style of play. The storyline and artistic aspects of it seem really intriguing but the only comparisons I have seen are also to games that I have never played or even seen in person and there seem to be a lot of mixed reviews around the net and even on this thread. I have read the first 15 pages or so of the thread but I don't want to read on and see all of the spoilers and storyline stuff in case I do decide to experience it myself.
Any advice on what to do to really understand how a game like this plays aside from youtube vids or just buying it and giving it a shot?

It really is a great game. You'll definitely have some growing pains early on. I never played a Witcher game before this one, and it is easily one of my top 5 games.

I think I'm going to get it this weekend just to see. I figure I might as well start fresh when I have plenty of time on my hands so I can binge play a little bit and hopefully get the feel for it. I will let you guys know if I do and how it goes.
Thanks for your input
BTW GoCrazyAuburn if you know how I can get on the Auburn board let me know (submitted requests twice so far). I want to start posting here and there but tRant is just too much for me most of the time.

Most reviews have been positive. The main guy hating on it on this thread, hates everything.
The combat take a little getting used to but I like it now .
Even on normal you will die a lot.

Ha well that's good to know about the guy that doesn't like anything. And I fully expect to die pretty regularly (that goes for the start of any new-to-me game really), I just try to play for the experience over the stats - makes the free time spent much more enjoyable that way.

Two good points here. You really have to dive into it head first and give it some time, keeping in mind that this game is massive, but you don't necessarily need to go back and play the old games or read years of lore. I think the first few hours you spend in White Orchard is appropriately boring/meager for anyone who doesn't have a lot of RPG experience. You'll be introduced to a lot of mechanics you aren't used to, while exploring a somewhat sparse open area so you aren't needlessly overwhelmed in the first 2% of the game.
I'm not much of an RPG player for several reasons: Resource management (crafting, potions, skill trees, etc.) can be too overwhelming, combat is often treated as an afterthought and focuses more on level/resources rather than skill/reflexes, and the games can be long but not in a meaningful way (i.e., padded with repetitive but necessary quests for gear/XP/money grinding). They generally aren't conducive to my "filthy casual" style, where I may only get an hour at a time to play.
I say all that because Witcher 3 somehow mitigated all of those issues for me. Resource management is vast, but toned down enough that it never feels like a chore (not having to recraft potions and whatnot is a godsend). Combat is a fantastic balance of skill and strategy, and I hope to see more action/adventure games adopt and refine similar mechanics. And most of all, hours and hours of grinding is neither essential nor dreadfully boring. I enjoyed some side quests more than the main story, and the main story is pretty fricking good.
Another thing that tends to deter me from playing an RPG is that the world is often grounded in years of previous lore in the form of books and/or video games that I feel like I must be familiar with in order to have any appreciation for the game. Witcher 3 is no different in regards to backstory, but there's no shortage of opportunities to get important elements of that backstory via dialog. Having no experience with the previous games (outside of a few hours playing Witcher 2) did not seem to hinder my enjoyment.

I really appreciate that breakdown of everything - that answered a lot of underlying questions for me. It's sounding more and more like I will be cool with it and I'm actually getting pretty excited to give it a shot.
