I finished Blood and Wine, got all the endings and searched just about every area of Toussaint. It's one of the best DLCs I've ever played.

How is the combat system?

Please please validate my claim.

I've said it before - it's as shallow or technical as you want it to be. Sure, it's meh if you spam the action button, but the game wants you to mix in signs, bombs, crossbow, etc. It's also fairly strategic, especially against multiple enemies. The upgrade system is complex. I've put a ton of hours into the game and I'm still learning. I think that's where some of the criticism stems from.

Have feeling those thinking its not complex are those who don't play on Death March or NG+.

You are forced to practice your evasion skills and grow in combat in those game modes.

As far as rpgs go, I like the combat system in FF12 much better. Granted its a bit different because you're controlling three characters instead of one but knowing how to manage your gambits can make or break a fight for you.

It is one of the only games where getting better at the combat makes a difference in the game. Its not critical that you have the best gear, upgrades or high level

The only gripe I've heard is that "you have to be patient". I kinda get it because I like steamrolling enemies as much as anyone.

I do love it though. You have to strategize. If I lose I don't just run off and come back after I level up or have better gear. I have to think about what I did wrong and how I can do better. I still play risky as hell but I have developed some patience.

FINALLY! This irrationally annoyed the crap out of me.

Yeah, this was dumb but always made me

The equine phantoms quest is awesome.

I beat B&W last night and I've got a question about one of the endings.

*SPOILER ALERT*

I'm not sure about all the endings, but in mine I had Triss meet me at my vineyard. During our conversation Geralt asked what the future looked like for him or something to that extent and she said that she wasn't going to tell him and that it was going to be a surprise. Geralt had a slight smirk on his face too, so I'm guessing that this isn't the last we see of Geralt or The Witcher series? I might be overthinking it, but that's the impression I got. I would love for another one

W3 is so good, I just picked the wrong time to play it. It's a shame I'm not getting the full experience right now of being sucked in.

So It feels like I'm nearing the end of the game so I decided to back track and start playing gwent since I've neglected it the whole game. The first 2 guys in velen were a motherfricker, especially the soothsayer with the monster deck. I've been blowing through everyone since then but have come across a problem. Dijsktra is one of the people you have to play in novigrad and his bath house is locked so I can't get to him. I looked it up and it seems I'm screwed as I waited to long to play him. Anybody else have this problem?

Also the kaer morhen battle was EPIC. Eskel and Ciri fighting caranthir

The monster deck makes you play different than the others people do. It took me a few tries.

He plays nothing but close range combo cards so once I drew 2 frosts I knew I had him

I also decided to delve into Qwent over the weekend.

However, I had already locked to areas so I didn't get the Baron crossed off the list and I didn't enter the tournament at the estate.

Completed all the Qwent Quests that I could and hit up most stores / smiths and I'm still missing some cards.

Wish there was one long convoluted quest that would point you to each trader / store / person with Qwent.

The game gets a bit too easy once you have the right cards. I lost a few time early on but the spy cards make it almost impossible for me to lose. Too many spy cards. Even without an initial spy, I usually pick some up from decoy or some other way.

Spy + decoy is endgame. I've now got the 1,4, and 5 spy cards so I'm likely to get at least one in my initial draw. Add in two decoys for spys or to double rez cards and it's over.

I have the 0, 1,4, & 5.

That with 1 decoy and a deck of about 25 cards makes me just about unbeatable unless I get a really really really bad draw. I could probably drop a card and add another decoy and then I would basically draw almost my whole deck.

Northern Realms spy+decoy is hard to lose with. It sucks when you play the entire game with that deck and strategy, and then in B&W you have to play the tourney with the Skillige deck, which sucks.
