Guys I can't stop thinking about skyrim. It is shameful how much I am thinking about it and reading forums and watching videos and searching for recent news. I think I am going to create a backstory for my three characters, which I've never done. It is tough since we don't know racial bonuses, which could affect my decision. But I think I am going to get super nerdy and write down back stories.I think fleshing them out in my own head will make me enjoy them more. I need some help making my final decisions though.:
1. Thief/Stealth character, will use archery from range, dual wield up close with daggers. He will be adept in Alchemy unsure how much I will invest in being gifted at speech. So the question is Khajiit (never played, but nice racial perk of night eyes) or wood elf?
2. Warrior. I am leaning towards a Board and Sword... Nord. But I can be swayed to a redguard perhaps or if someone makes an argument for 2H orc.
3. Full mage...Dark or High Elf?

Damn it! Why isn't NSFW in the title? I'm full mast from reading through this thread and can't stand up from my desk.

I feel your pain. Dammit, if only Waitmate were real LINK I would use it until Nov 5 then watch LSU-Bama then take it again until Nov 11 for Skyrim

I'm probably going to end up making an Orc with 2 weapons. The sole reason I am considering doing this is that they actually took the time to make your character look like a badass instead of some skinny androgynous wimp and I've seen screen shots of Orcs that look awesome. Also they added cool new animations to hand to hand combat that will actually make it more enjoyable.

Go with the Orc. They look really bad arse in Skyrim especially compared to how they looked in Oblivion.

Never been a fan of High Elves. Their weakness to magic has always been a big turn off.

Was always a fan of a warrior mage type.. I'm thinking with dual weilding of magic and an enhanced weapon of some sort.
And of course a tank type.. was never one for the bow and arrow.

GOT DAMN YOU Bethesda. Steam has a countdown time showing that the game unlocks at 12AM PST. That means I can't play until 2AM CST.

I can't decide whether I want to go PC or 360 on this one. My computer is just a hair better than the recommended specs but they said that won't get you "balls out".
I have Oblivion for both and I am 1000x more pleased with the PC performance. My 360 gets laggy all the time with the "loading area" and some of the load times are a little long. They're good for a piss break but pretty annoying, especially after I've played on PC.
Right now I'm leaning PC...but I don't know 100% yet.

I started a new Oblivion character to hold me over until Skyrim's release... Also, MW3 will kill a few hours in the days leading up.

I'm getting it for 360 but if you have the option for getting it on PC I would always suggest doing so for Elder Scrolls games. Aside from the performance, MODs make the game last for so much longer.

If the 360 barely handled oblivion well I wouldn't be surprised if it lagged for skyrim as well.
Plus with the PC you can upgrade at some point + mods + mouse and keyboard = win.

I think I'm gonna go this route too. I had a redguard in Oblivion that was a straight up warrior type, no majic or sneak ability.....wanted to attack dungeons LeRoy Jenkins style
I think you will be much more effective in Skyrim if you're a good all around mage/warrior type. Being sneaky thief/asassin type doesn't seem like it would be effective in this one IMHO

I'm going to buy it for 360, but bootleg a PC copy to see how it fares on my laptop. I'll also try out the mods on my laptop when they start coming out. When I build a new desktop in a year or so, I'll definitely be playing it on my PC.

That is what surprises me the most. I bought Oblivion when it came out for PC and it has handled fine. I bought the 360 Slim 250GB Kinect bundle in June and then I got Oblivion GOTY for it about a month ago just to see which style I preferred for Skyrim. I honestly thought the 360 would outperform my PC but I was way off. I like the controls a LITTLE better but that is about it.

Main point. I had about 150 hours into my Oblivion character over about 2 years....then I modded. It really is like playing a whole new game, I love it. I would imagine it will be tougher to mod Skyrim though with it being so big huh?

I've never been a big fan of sneaking around.. I have to be patient during real life.. I don't care to do so during a game (hated metal gear solid games)
So it's either 2handed warrior or full on mage for me.. and considering warrior is generally easy in the beginning hard late game and mage is the opposite.. I'm going mage.
More rewarding at end game to blow things up
