I am still torn on Nord or Breton.

I generally stick to the neutrals. Maybe play Dark Elf later on.

Rock the Redguard. Start with strong blade/armor bonuses and aren't handicapped in magic either. My main character has been a redguard in Morrowind, Oblivion, and now Skyrim.

Redguard always seems to be the easiest to use.

They are pretty good because they don't lean towards any particular archetype.

So he's one of those people that play CoD because it's "cool."

So say I want to go mostly magic, perhaps with a shield though.. race advice?

Not big on summons, more individual casting ability.. think 75% mage 25% paladin.

Going with a glass cannon-esque mage build Breton my first go round.

I went back to play some of Oblivion a few weeks ago (first time) and rolled a dark elf mage/wizard whatever it is.. basically ran around with a sword and shield and threw fireballs at bitches.

I like that it's hard in the beginning and you're nearly godlike in the end as a mage. The way it should be.

What about an imperial? Had one of these in oblivion and seemed to be a good all around character.

They have some speech based skill bonuses if I remember correctly. Passable with combat, but not exceptional.

So say I was hoping for racial bonuses that helped with magic, hardiness (health, resistances or something?), or traveling speed, importance in that order..

Which would you recommend?

If it's possible I think I want to be a redguard paladin-type that can cast offensive magic. Like a battlemage, a sword in one hand, casting in the other.

I use the redguard as a battlemage as well, starts with good blade skill and can pick magic very easily.

Definitely Breton's for the 25% magic res. Also it looks like they took out the high elves' weakness to magic, so now maybe that race is playable again.

Eta: all races have the same movement speed. And I'm getting my info here.

Sorry if Germans (haven't read the whole thread), will there be a vampire sub-race like in Oblivion?

My class was thief/assassin in Oblivion and the vampire bonuses were End Boss.
