I've been away from the computer all day. I'll tell you the name and location when I get home later.

Making expensive potions does level you MUCH faster. Once I found this list I shot up to 100.

I did hop around to each city and buy out the ingredients.

One NEW TIP...

Once you start making expensive potions....keep them on you so that after you buy out the ingredient store, you can immediately sell back some expensive potions to get all your money back.

Once you close the dialog box, the money you gave will be reset.

Also.... the chick in whiterun can raise you up to 75...5 levels per character level. Same deal as above. Make sure you have some expensive potions to sell back to her to get any training money back.

I've been wandering aimlessly with my new Mage character.

I just stumbled on some hot chick in her undies hanging out spread eagle in a hot spring. I thought she was dead but she was just hanging out half nekid in a hot spring.

The Honorable Death Orc one hits my poor Mage at the moment.

Any high level mages out there? what do you use for armor?

I wonder how much wearing light armor would hurt my overall mage skill.

There might be better lists out by now. I haven't looked since I made that one.

LINK

That link is a great tool for making useful potions once you have finished leveling to 100.

It gives you the ingredients needed to make any pot.

I know the location. Just curious how I do it. Just stand there and start casting spells?

I had a similar puzzle not spinning glitch. Not in Saarthal, but the door in Bleak Falls Barrow. The remedy was to reload or run back to the nearest area entry door, leave and come back
I had that glitch too and leaving and coming back in worked.

I've been stuck between rocks a few times in dungeons which forced reloads.

Also after 180 hours my game save was so slow, I finally quit. Hopefully they fix this but I doubt it is high priority.

Does armor affect your spell casting abilities in this game like Oblivion? I don't think so. I've never seen anything about it if that's true, and if it is then I've been a very ineffective mage. My main is a pure mage. I just sprinted through the Companions' Guild questlines to take advantage of trainer followers and had Farkas teach me Heavy Armor as quickly as possible to get my skill to 70 and get the Conditioning perk, so my heavy armor is weightless. Then I just summon up weapons as I need them, and don't carry much of anything else so I'm usually only carrying about 12 pounds of things, mostly potions.

Bleakwind Basin, just in case.

There's a hill overlooking the camp, and from that high point you should see a pillar you can jump to. If you attack a mammoth, it will run up to the top of the hill facing you but then not be able to get into melee range, so you can just nuke it all day. The giants, on the other hand, seem to stand way back since they know they can't get to you. You can still fill them with arrows or ice spikes just as easily, though.

I would attack the mammoths just to aggro them and the giants first, then start leveling whatever non-attack spells you have, then kill everything in the camp once you're satisfied. It's a cheap exploit, but alteration/illusion and some other skills can be slow to level the normal way.

The mammoths won't stay close enough to where I can tee off on them, they keep running away

Yeah, when I did it last night to make sure all of my directions were accurate, the mammoths and giants would run pretty far in the opposite direction as if looking for some alternate path to get to me. I had to jump back over to the hill and attack them a few times to get them to come within range.

I've been hit by the Companion storyline glitch on PS3. Sucks as that was one of my favorite storylines, and it doesn't seem to be fixable on consoles.

Alright, so best build for a mage/assassin?

I don't want to mess it up again, so I'm asking for advice...

Destruction
Illusion
Sneak
One-Hand
Archery
Light Armor

Rest in Enchanting, Alchemy

???

That's about right.. at least the apprentice perk in illusion so you can use muffle more effectively (unless you just plan on wearing the shrouded/nightingale boots). How did you screw it up the first time? Too many magic skills? I did the same thing with my mage. Just my opinion, but I don't think a lot of spells in the alteration/restoration families are that useful.

Question for anyone who has done the civil war questline - how much does it affect the game world? In all my hours playing I've never bothered with it, but I made a new character and would like to do it to mix up my experience. I'm worried it might close certain things off for me though.

you have to lead them a bit - either north to silent moons camp, where there is a stone "hut" where they can't touch you, or west (?) toward a bridge where you can hide underneath and giants can't reach you.

Doesn't really affect much play wise, just the chatter you will get from npcs.
