Honestly, I will jump servers if I join one and it is already nighttime. If it becomes nighttime while I'm playing, I'll generally stay.
The key to staying alive when you spawn is getting off the coast. Rural barns and deer stands frequently have weapons. Of course, it's tough to find those sorts of things in the dark.

So my roommate bought this yesterday and was playing around with Arma 2 to get used to the controls. I remember hearing that this game was pretty similar to the original Operation Flashpoint. If so, I'm picking this up just for that aspect.

Must be nice to be able to play. I uninstalled arrowhead and re installed it last night. I'm going to try again later.

I've never heard of your pixel shader issues, did you get Arma2 OA running without the mod?

I finally got that error to go away but then a new one popped up saying I am missing a serial code. I could click and launch oa but I could not choose to play it. It is weird.

got tired of waiting to play this game, so i bit the bullet and went ahead and bought it. 
if its on the summer sale, ah well, if it isnt well im one step ahead.
took about 7 - 8 hrs to download the armaII: combined operations game. so i let it do its thing last night. got the six updater last night, installed and updated the dayz mod while ago, took maybe 5 - 10 min. got an error message when i tried to join a server 'arma2oa.exe the program can't start because x3daudio1_6.dll is missing' realized my directx is old and updated it.
hoping thats my only issue, and ill be playing shortly...

Let us know how it goes, Stout and I didnt have any problems after installing, but burgeman had several issues and just ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the six launcher and updater I think

had one other minor issue of when i tried to play it said i had a bad serial number, turns out i had to log out of steam and then run it as admin. it works now, and im able to play. played for 10 minutes in a chicago server. just explored a bit and ran around getting chased by zombies. fun times. played without really knowing any controls(except R = reload but that didnt help me), just winged it while running for my life 
didnt plan on playing long anyway, got a few thing i gotta do. will play more later, hope i know more controls then...

Yea, just hit Z to prone and check the controls, but Z,X, and C will be your prone, crouch and stand, and G does your inventory.
I did a lot of youtube searches last night, found a pretty small channel that had a lot of info, i may try to recruit him in for us too

Just ordered the rest of my PC parts FYI. Should all be here by next weekend. Now I just need a torrent of Windows 7. I need to figure out where I am going to set this shite up at.

i found a really good version of 7 ultimate that I used on my wifes laptop. It was crack and didn't need a serial or anything but I just burned it and don't have the link for it anymore. :/
