Seems that Ilum is better now, but it is still ridiculously easy to get valor (even Republic on some servers are able to farm it). I guess Bioware just wants people to be able to get the best gear in the game in less than a week now. It's scary that this is almost on par with the New Game Enhancements from SWG, only one month after TOR's launch.
ETA: Did you see the "founder" title announcement? Did they pick the worst possible time to announce that or what?
With Bioware I sometimes get the feeling that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

What time will everyone be on tonight?

Whoops, I forgot to add you when I got on briefly earlier. I'll try in a few minutes, but it hasn't been letting me friend people who are offline.

Nice write-up about faction imbalance: Professor Walsh

Looks like I made a good decision to wait-n-see on this game.
Really shocked at Bioware's handling of this. They had such a great reputation prior, this was totally unexpected.
Meanwhile, I'm having fun rotating between STO, LOTRO, and EQ2. Without paying a dime for any of them.
Hope things get better for those committed Star Wars fans. First SWG, and now this.

I had my own degree of skepticism, but I felt like I had to be one of the first people playing this game and testing the waters. I owed it to myself after 6 or so years of following TOR from a rumored project to a big-budget title.
Fixes for ability delay, customizable interface, guild banks, and guild ships have all been announced. All of those things will make for a much better game - it's just a matter of how soon they implement them.

What are you guys complaining about? Endgame?
Posted on 1/20/12 at 6:00 pm to RemouladeSawce
My main broad complaint is that this faction imbalance could have been prevented.
I think most of my technical/gameplay criticisms will be addressed soon.

It's hard to tell just yet... I don't think this game is going to tank, though.
As a side note, SWTOR has the worst forum I've ever read.
This thread will make you wish that half of the playerbase would die.

If they can get these out quickly, they'll save the game easily. Most people's complaint have to do with these things from what I've seen (well at least before the Ilum disaster - hopefully thats fixed).
If they're quick about these fixes I can't possibly see the game tanking. These are the most glaring omissions, so they'd make a huge difference.

Been browsing the forums a bit.
I can see a lot of people's frustration with Bioware's attention to detail on things like the storyline and not PvP, but as Muppet's thread outlined, the storyline and other minutia are what separates TOR from any of the other WoW cookie cutters.
The game's also officially only been out for 32 days now. The launch was exceptional. Who's to say GW2's will be better or the game won't have a comparable number of balance issues? The chicken littling is odd.

I think this is just some general game mishandling amplified by one of the worst communities I've ever come into contact with. It seems that SWTOR attracted the worst of the WoW min-maxers who want to take this game hostage and squeeze it until their vision of Space Azeroth pops out. I do think that Bioware has made some very bad mistakes, even if they were made within the first month, but people are hysterical because they get some kind of ego boost out of saying "I told you this would fail!"

After my first experience with two 50's camping lvl 33's I went back to my carebear roots. I am going to get by my 2nd account after the game is updated on my 2nd computer.

nerfing my operative pisses me off. If people actually played the class, they'd see that it's very buggy. Backstab doesn't work half the time, killing your rotation.
something about server lag or view versus actual position.....you Hidden Strike someone...then you can't hit them again and they have 10 sec stun immunity.
Yeah, when all goes well, we did some dmg, but that goes for all others.....the game is broken.
I will 100% be playing GW2...no ifs,ands, or buts.
