Is there a good guide or something to follow for which hero does what?
Just search the champ you want to learn and read the guides with the best ratings. Most of them will be guides from TSM players themselves.

Did Hec get cancelled or something? I haven't seen him jungled in months.

Get Drewbie to write up some articles on the champs you like, then do the opposite of what he says. You'll be Challenger in no time

Interesting. I don't jungle, so I had no clue.
I spend 99.999999% of my time in a bot lane role.

He used to be insane strong, but they nerfed his late game REALLY hard in exchange for a buff to his early game. WIth the current meta the way it is, junglers are relied on for more CC, which Hecarim doesn't really have the best of. He has his ult fear but that's about it, and there are tankier alternatives. He's still usable, he's just not the best option.

Got Nautilus in an aram last night. May give him a run as a support.
Has a "Leona-like W", an AOE slow, gap closing hook, and a non skill shot ult knock up.

Just had to adc with an alistar support that gave Vayne first blood and knocked her back to me to kill me within the first 4 minutes
He ended the game with 12 deaths. Vayne had 19 kills.
At one point Vayne had 20 farm and 6 kills.

Hec's jungle and teamfight sustain was nerfed hard, and his ganks are less effective. He is viable but not a great pick.

I think I'm gonna quit playing by myself until Season 4 starts. No one plays seriously and the people that try to suck arse. I haven't had any fun playing this game in like a week. I literally have to make myself play because I don't want to get any more rusty than I already am. If anyone wants to duo, I'm more than willing.

quote:We were all newbs once. This thread has really surprised me with how understanding and informative everyone is.
Noob questions incoming: In the description of the heroes are "assassins" the type of hero you want to jungle with? I understand tanks are mainly for lanes, there are so many hero's my brain hurts.
The type of jungler to pick has a lot more to do with the current meta-game and adjustments to the champions than anything else.
With the assassin heavy mid lane in S3, ganking power was optimal, so champs like Vi became very powerful.
With the S4 jungle and support adjustments, fast clears and extra tank ones for team fights is helpful. So, shyvana, Olaf, and even volibear have re-emerged.
If you are really new, < lvl 15, play all roles to increase your laning, decisions and mechanics.
Hiding, farming in the jungle until mid/late game won't help you develop. And that's kinda what the new jungle forces.
Plus learning lane characters and relative strengths by level will help a whole lot to know when are good gank opportunities.
You have to dabble in everything to develop into a great jungler b/c so much of the role is presence and pressure in support of your lanes.

I pretty much quit for now. I hate the s4 changes.

I don't play at all unless it's premade with at least 2 other people I know.
I'm not some elite player, I'm average on my best day, but I know a good bit about the game and at least know HOW it should be played.
Playing soloQ, you get no ganks, and when you request nicely, you get bitched at told that you don't need the help.
Then when the other lanes get shite on and feed their opponents, and their jungler and mid laner is constantly down bottom diving me, I get yelled at for feeding and being bad.
Hell, even in a premade 4, we had a malphite jungler that refused to use his ult and refused to communicate with us. People are just dumb.
ETA: The matchmaking is effed up sometimes for sure. On a team of all bronze level players and somehow we are facing an all silver team with a gold and a diamond... wtf
For any new players, to truly enjoy this game, you need friends that you can voice comm with to play with you. Otherwise, you aren't getting everything out of it.

I like the support changes.
From what I've read, the more popular lanes (mid and top) got hit and the bot lane (the least popular lane imo) got the biggest help.
Had the mid and top lanes gotten perked up instead, I think the changes would be more popular.

Well yeah there's solomid.net, mobafire.com, etc. I thought he was asking for an all-inclusive list of each champion
Guess I derp'd (what else is new?)

Im jungle and support main and both my shite got fricked with.
I don't like the botlane/vision changes because that's how I won games as support. Just annoying, I'll wait till numbers get perfected once the season starts.

I love every part of the changes.

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
Support is in a much better place along with vision.
I'm not the only person on my team that needs to ward, thank jesus.
1 Pink at Drag, 1 Ward at Tribrush, 1 for Lane brush and 1 to frick around with.
For later game, you just need wards at OBJs: Their Red/Blue Buffs, Baron, and Dragon

quote:I wish you the best of luck. My mids got nerfed into the ground so I'm probably done with mid. I can still play it since I know Kassadin and Katarina well. But I specialized in the assassin mids and those are completely gone now. I've always preferred jungle, but the changes they made in S3 made me hate it. But I realize that jungle is where I prefer to be. The vast majority of people don't know how to jungle properly, and I can have more impact on the game by just being a solid jungler than getting fed mid.
Does this mean I can main mid finally?
ETA: Did me being the midlaner seriously stop you from learning mid?
