Teams that typically play at an elite level have on of a few traits.
1. Elite talent (at one or more positions)
2. Great synergy (able to overcome talent issues)
3. Better strategy (understanding and enforcing win conditions)
4. Draft tactics (force the other team into a comp you can beat)
5. Meta Understanding (adapting quickly to changes in meta)

TSM might... might have elite talent, but we need to focus on actual, this year performance and not have name-recognition bias.
Other than that, they're bad at the other measures of success.

Take C9 at worlds for example. Obviously didn't have better talent... so, how did they always do so well?
Coaching, synergy, strategy. That still hasn't changed.

This is why the DL move. Kobbe played fine last split, but they are banking on Dl and Bio being better than Kobbe/Bio because of the synergy they bring.

Ever since they got DL back I've taken it as they are playing for 2021. Especially when DL allegedly signed for multiple years. Spica is the placeholder to get them through summer while hopefully making to worlds as a 2 or 3 seed.. then addressing their imports in the off season. I don't know if anyone can EXPECT them to jump in what that roster and win the split. You never know, but it's HIGHLY doubtful.

You don't drop Kobbe for DL and not use the extra import slot eventually.

TSM hasn't had elite talent for some time. Bad academy junglers, mediocre tops and mid range supports, revolving door of coaches etc.

Ziks talked about how big of a mess TSM is behind the scenes yesterday as well with other coaches having no direction on what to do.

It really isn't a surprise pro's and coaches are saying they're bad with the roster they have.

Let's get this split started.

The games were alright if not predictable, but my god was the production awful. They had some DJ guy try to fill in some of the (plentiful) dead time with the cringiest segment I've ever seen in an LCS broadcast. Couple that with the audio issues, the scoreboard issues, and the constant downtime it was pretty horrible. It also shouldn't take almost 3 hours to get through two games.

Yeah, the games went about how I expected.

It was almost embarrassing that’s how bad everything was. The whole broadcast was hard to watch. The new hud is bad and hard to see.. the pre and post game looks horrible... not to mention the DJ debacle.

Fix this shite. Such a bad look.

Letigress or whatever her name is needs to go back to where she came from. I’m sorry but she tries way too hard for me.

I, however, did like the in game banners around the rift that we can see but the players can’t. I think that’s pretty cool looking.

I think part of the problem with the Friday/Monday Night League analyst desk is that without Dash there to steer the discussion MarkZ and Prolly just are bland and uninteresting. I've never been a fan of Prolly on the desk but MarkZ is usually entertaining.

I'd say the C9 boys are right.

TL with a 25 min shite stomp and my god DL looks as bad as last split and now he has an awful support instead.

Yeah that was amazing to watch, totally outclassed in every way by an academy adc.

That TSM roster is so bad.

Had to miss it. Good to see UH wasted no time getting back into top overreaction form early. Feels like home.

EDIT: Kayn? It all makes sense now. Doesn't matter who the players are when it's still the same people drafting.

Edit 2: I'm pretty sure Dardoch could have spent 23 minutes in base Kayn form too. Just saying.

Jatt baiting the frick out of the comfort Syndra Bjerg pick was so genius, he bent TSM over right out of the gate in champ select. So this is what it is like to have a quality p/b coach!

Calm down dude. They picked Kayn into an already locked in Trundle in pro play. TSM picked up the gun and shot themselves with it. Whoever's idea that was needs to not be employed tomorrow.

I'm actually optimistic that EG, Flyquest, and TL will be decent teams this split. C9 still seems to be the clear #1 but hopefully they'll have more competition.

I think GG could as well, they play TL tomorrow too.

Damonte and all of GG flashing the DIG emote at the end. Tanner Time is back!

Also, that IMT starting 5 is terrrrrible. What happened to Xmithie? Rumors he showed up to scrims drunk...

I didn't get to see the GG/Dig game, I'll have to go back and watch. It's hard to tell how good some of these teams are because half of the league is so terrible. I'm really looking forward to C9 vs TL.

GG looked solid there again, they will be in the running for Worlds. Great job by TL after a hard snowball game yesterday to come back today and draft a slow methodical outscale comp and give very little over until you just win the game. Well done.
