I found this post on the Destiny forums talking about gear from the tower:

"Im seeing a lot of confusion with the new DLC and i just thought id clear up some of the most common questions.

1st thing is that you can buy new gear to reach a maximum light lvl of 31 from any of the tower factions, crucible handler, and vanguard vendors.

SOME of these new pieces of gear in the tower require a COMMENDATION, which are achieved by reaching your next rank in crucible or vanguard rep.
However i have already purchased the dead orbit boots and the new monarchy sleeves with no commendations required. ONLY chests and helmets (weapons as well) will require commendations.

Take note that any gear purchased in the tower will not allow you reach the new light lvl cap of 32. (Same deal as before the dlc) This level can only be achieved by getting a full raid set from the dark below OR 3 pieces of new raid gear and an exotic that has been reset through xur to match the increased light lvl."

i watched about 5 minutes of it but I won't be raiding for a long time.

We should go in this week and try to complete some of it to get some upgraded rewards. We won't be able to finish it since apparently enemies at the end are lvl 32-33, but if we could kill the first encounter we could come away with some new raid gear making it easy to get to 31. At the very least we can get some chests.

I will admit, I don't know how long I'd be able to hold off on not viewing anything on the new Raid. It's really eating at me

I wonder who it was.

Apparently, enemies start off at 30 and then as you get to a certain part, the enemy level increases to 31.

You can run it with 7 now? I'm thinking not that that one of the 7 were rotating with others for breaks. That or imatrix7 left for some reason and another filled in.

4 29s and 3 30s, too. So it can be done without upgrading further.

I'm in tonight if we want to give it a shot.

So do the Vanguard and Crucible vendors, along with Dead Orbit, FWC and New Monarchy, have updated gear to purchase or is everything sold through Eris to get to level 31?
