How do I open the door in the Cathedral ward to the right. The one left and straight are open but I cannot open the right one.

Have to drop down the bottom of the healing church workshop. You'll go through an ally and come out behind the gate.

What's the verdict on the Blade of Mercy? I'm 5,000 echoes short. Debating on leveling up or going back out and getting the rest. I have a +5 Ludwig's Blade so IDK if I should even switch weapons at this point.

It's awesome and fun to use, but it won't be worth it if you haven't invested in skill or arcane.

Ok I think I'm stuck. Beat the witches and Amelia. Only way to go is the door down the path on the right. First time I tried opening it was an insta death. I've been running in circles.

In the Forbidden Woods you'll talk to an NPC that will give you something that will let you survive being grabbed by the invisible thing right of the Grand Cathedral. The Forbidden Woods is huge and very easy to get lost so be careful. There's also a boss in there and the entrance to a new area.

Start at the Grand Cathedral and run down all the stairs to the circular graveyard. Go right behind the giant and through the pathway on the left. Flow the path and talk to Alfred. There are stairs on the right that lead to the Forbidden Woods. You'll have the password if you looked at the skull after beating Amelia.

There's really no certain strat. Always stay close and do heavy attacks to try and stagger; be wary of attacks when you're close to her back.
I almost had her on my first try. I backed off to heal and she one-shot me with an arcane attack.

More like 'get lucky'. Most Souls players find her difficult, if not the most difficult in the game. Most finish the game in the 70s, a few points here and there won't really matter. She's pretty easily stunned; buff your weapon with bolt paper and go to town on her. Do visceral attacks when she's stunned.
It might help to equip defensive runes, if you haven't. Just never stray from her or she'll fricking one hit KO you in a heartbeat.
