Pro tip guys --
If you find yourself dying a lot to a boss, you can still collect blood echoes and then return to town and cash them in for levels and items. Then, when you return to the boss, the blood echoes you've lost will still be there on the ground. This helped me a lot with Fr. Castration.

really debating on getting this game. it sounds like an interesting concept and it being hard is a big positive in my book.
but I never could get into dark souls, I'm not a fan of horror movies, and I don't care for the dark goth shite. me and the goth skater emo frickers in school didn't exactly get along.

I actually watched twitch for the first time last night just for this game. Its got me really wanting to pick it up.
I tried playing DS2 a month ago and only got about 1 hour into it because I got to a boss I couldn't get past. I decided to give DS another shot before I get BB, but I might still pick it up anyway.

Avoiding spoilers and twitch streams like the plague so the experience is fresh for me when it's time.
Dark souls is a great game based on world exploring and combat fighting. No emo goth shite lol.
Dark souls makes dragon age inquisition look like a freemium android app. And I like DA. Ds1 is the goat . Ds2 was ok. Ds1 and BB are directed by the same person. It will be the GOTY. (Maybe witcher3 contends)
Yes it will be tough. You will die. A lot. It's ok. Learn why you died and don't do it again.
It may not be a game for everyone. You have to be willing to repeat A LOT of shite sometimes to make it to a new Checkpoint. But if you genuinely enjoy the combat mechanics then it's a blast. Every bit of damage you dodge adds up. High high skill ceiling
