did you delid because you had already tested your 3570k and it was performing poorly, or did you do it before ever using the cpu? I just watched a couple youtube vids on delidding and it makes sense, but it seems like it is a little risky. The vid I saw the guy had one core running 20 degrees hotter so in that instance I would agree with the process. On my 3570k I am having general heat issues. I got so frustrated trying to OC this thing to 4.3 even because I was getting up to 75 degrees but there was only like a 5 degree differece between the hottest and coldest core. Hard to tell if I got shafted by the silicon lottery or if its the TIM.

What time was the video using? I bought the 3570k used, and the previous owner said it ran pretty hot at 4.5.
Im waiting to see if it works before I say it was easy to do

At just 4.3 it is TIM.
For it to perform poorly at that speed and it be a binning problem, you might have one of the worst chips in the world... Highly doubt that.

he ended up using the artic cooling proprietary TIM but recommended liquid metal for its super high conductivity and that it cements to nearly a solid. He didn't glue the IHS back to the chip, he just let the socket hold it in place. He was handling the contacts on his chip a lot to take off the IHS which I was leery of, but otherwise it looks like it worked well. LINK
Coyote when I was first OCing it I had talked to you about it and you has recommended reseating my nh d14, but now it looks like the TIM might have been the problem. Yall think I should delid it? After seeing it done it seems like the only real risk, aside from voiding warranties, is that you could gouge the PCB.

some of the stuff I have read says to touch the heatsink and feel the exhaust air to see if it is getting warm when stressing the cpu. My nhd14 never got warm to the touch which leads me to believe that I should delid. agree?

Coollaboratory liquid pro or ultra is the only stuff you want to use. Thats what I used.
You arent supposed to glue it back together, thats what the TIM does, and Liquid pro/ultra basically solders the two together when heated.

maybe thats what the guy suggested. you used it only on the die or on the die and PCB? Does it really fuse the IHS and the cpu together?

So blue you aren't doing direct to die?
Just replacing TIM between die and IHS?

I'm only doing directly to die

Blue, how much do you want for that Crysis 3 coupon you mentioned in another thread?

When you guys build do you ever use all the hardware installation discs or do you just go straight to the website and update drivers?
Posted on 3/14/13 at 4:10 pm to Mr Gardoki
Have a dedicated flash drive for bios and drivers.
Never use the disc. Before I start putting a build together I download all the latest BIOS from the site.. Flash associated hardware then install drivers for hardware after all my BIOS have been updated.

I never knew MDPC was so expensive. 202 after shipping to do system in MDPC compared to the 50bucks of modsmart

Look up dazmode. Same shite but cheaper. They have the same supplier.

Or drop $5 on some paracord

I thought I should tease everyone, including myself, with 98% of my components for my next build:
