Yeah I have 4x4 of Samsung low profil ram. Stuff is awesome and overclocks well. I can see how yours is pretty quiet. Those fractal fans are very quiet. When you start adding in a few more you'll start to notice the noise. The new fans move more air at low voltages. Also my heat sink uses noctua fans which are top of the line so it might run quieter than a 212 evo.

Corsair fans look sweet with the white rim huh?
Also, that mouse pad looks sweet now that it is out the box.
What you ever did with the h80 u won? Put it in that htpc and did you see my htpc/steam box on pg 13?

You say this and it is true but, both fractal fans on my r4 mini went out within 1 year.
To its credit it did run 24/7 for a long time in my server.

Damn right
I put the h80 in my brothers htpc with the 5800k. He uses it for medium setting controller enabled games. How high did you oc your 5800 again?

I went ahead and bought the xonar dg last night... only $30 so I said screw it!

Let me know if you notice a big difference between an inexpensive sound card and on board audio. I've always wondered if it made that big of a difference. I know that those xonar essence cards are supposed to be bad arse for htpc and audio recording/editing.

Yea I went with the DG because it has a headphone amplifier that powers up to 125ohm headphones at 5.1 virtual surround.
The onboard audio is shite for virtual surround... nothing like my astro amp I used to have or my turtle beach's

What do you guys use your htpc for? I know what they can do but I was wondering what y'all most commonly used them fore.

1. Streaming videos via net
2. Playing movies from my home server
3. Steam box, play games in living room.

Did you basically put it together with leftover parts from previous builds?

I know me. I'll being into water cooling after I have maxed my air cooling and learned all I can learn. A lot of this for me is because I like learning and experimenting with it.

Water cool only after doing tons of research and asking lots of questions.
Another option is to start with one of the Swiftech kits. They can all be turned into custom loops and come with probably the best pump made (MC35X) and excellent parts otherwise. Start with a simple CPU loop and expand from there.

Well me and the GF live together and are building a house. Just not "married" as of yet. Maybe I should change that but that just makes us both look like tebow.. I'm already pretentious enough.

Same here. Haven't even seriously considered it yet.

I LOVE my APU build but the microstutter can suck arse at times.
Posted on 3/12/13 at 4:20 pm to Srbtiger06
What is causing the microstutter is most likely RAM clocks. It is latency issues with DDR3.
Clock up your RAM to t less 1866, I recommend 2133 just to cut down microstutter.
I had to not push my APU so hard just to cut down on the latency lag. Find a place where to play well together.
