Outside of being the primo RPG system of its era, the PS1 lineup was sorta underwhelming IMO.
You got the first three Resident Evil games, MGS, and Castlevania SotN, but not many other timeless classics.
It had a bunch of good sports and racing games too for it's time, for people who liked those.
And yes, as someone who plays tons of retro games, the early 3D games hold up the least. 2D games still look and play beautifully. The early 3D games take much longer to get used to. Eventually you do but the initial camera and controls and stuff are very off-putting at first.

I have both an NES classic and a SNES classic sitting unopened in a box. I have no clue when or where I would ever use them. These are almost useless to those that like really playing games.
Just pre-ordered the playstation one at best buy

War Hawk and Twisted Metal are the only games that stand out in my mind on PS1.

I'm a big Nintendo fan admittedly, but I said when they were announced/released that I didn't get it. Just put the stuff on the new consoles. A "classic" device is just pointless to me and just clogs up my entertainment center.

It’s gotta have Spyro, Crash, and Driver or it isn’t a PS1

Yeah pretty much the same thoughts.
I collect shite I don’t need.
Side note, if anyone wants a persona 4 solid gold Vita edition, Fallout 4 collectors edition, Persona 5 collectors edition etc etc etc. Let me know!

I think someone mentioned Lunar, earlier, but Alundra is another unsung classic.
I NEED SSX Tricky to be available for PS4, however.

For those curious: The Rise and Fall of EA Sports BIG As Told by the Creator of SSX.

Sony related, not necessarily to PS1 games, but they announced they are offering a download feature for Playstation Now. Huge since I think at this point of the age of the internet, streaming games sucks.

I'm not sure the Playstation has ever been the console brand you go to for timeless classics at least not in comparison to Nintendo who really knocked it out of the park with their first party titles on NES, SNES, and N64.
You still have a lot of games though that really defined the era and which users have a lot of nostalgia for.

What? I've not had any issues at all.

Driver was a good game and all but it's not like it was a landmark title or anything.
I bet it'll only have 1 game per series since there's only 20 so no trilogies.

So many better ways to play PSX games using dual shock and having access to the entire library.
The PSX emulator on my Nvidia Shields and laptop have filters that make the PSX games a lot easier on the eyes.
I grew up a HUGE PS fan back in the day but honestly the graphics just did not age well, the filters make these old gems much more enjoyable.
