The limited release thing just means you only have 6 months to buy the game, right? I'm just making sure this isn't some weird scenario where the game is only available as a digital download and you can't play it after March.

I'm pretty into PGA 2k21 now and figured I'd just ask for this as an easy Xmas gift.

How hard is it to copy a game card for future allocations?

Must be some sort of twisted marketing ploy. Nintendo hates money.

But why does Nintendo continue to make these Disney limited release decisions? People really want your stuff. Why make it hard? I'd imagine they're only going to print so many physical copies.

The limited release is for the physical version only. as are many of Switch's indie/small releases.

The initial press release only had limited after the physical, but it looks like you are right:

quote:

Even when you aren’t playing, you can enjoy the sounds that these worlds (and galaxies!) are so famous for. With three games, modern upgrades, and music-player mode, this collection is filled with fun for both new players and 3D platforming Mario masters. Super Mario 3D All-Stars will be available as a limited-run retail edition and a digital edition that is available for a limited time until the end of March 2021.

Super confusing language since they are both limited.

Yeah that makes no sense, Disney cancelled the Vault.

"But maybe it will work for us!" I feel like they'll change that decision in time.

The website makes me a little less interested in this, but it does have free desktop wallpapers for each game if y'all are interested.

It advertises Super Mario 64 as having "improved picture resolution," Mario Sunshine as having "higher resolution" and "new 16:9 aspect ratio," and Mario Galaxy as having "improved resolution." I don't understand why they wouldn't just go all the way with HD.

ETA: Fixed link.

well....I'll still buy it but I was under the impression these would be remastered versions and I guess silly me I thought that meant they would be in the same mold as Mario Odyssey. Disappointing.

Mario Odyssey. Disappointing.

I would believe that would require all new assets.

Game engine/Internal resolution and aspect is about all you could hope for, imo.

Time?

I expected something much bigger than this from Nintendo, but there are a bunch of small projects in the direct today:

Mario kart - In your living room
Mario battle Royale
3D World plus new expansion

It's a good spread, and varied, but nothing really Triple A worthy. Although if that Mario Kart thing precedes the new game with a new engine, that MIGHT be interesting. As of now, it's a toy. A really really cool toy, but a toy.

So this is real and not just a tech demo?

I will be wasting money on those little carts. I'm interested to test latency. It must use wifi direct instead of wifi over network!?

More excited about these than the 3-pack.

I don't think it will be much more than a tech demo, but they are going to sell it as toys....

For now. That's what Nintendo does. I think this is a "test" and there's potential for this with the next Mario Kart, which would be huge.

I think the next step is that the cars record the track, rather than ride it, and you can play it with normal Mario Kart modes. That would be HUGE.

Yeah, me too. I mean they showed inside....but...a few 2x8's outside.....that would be cool.

This thing looks like it has crazy potential.
