I'm excited for this, but I can't see myself buying at launch if there is not a new 3D Mario game available. I know there won't be a new Zelda.

Looks like we weren't the only ones speculating about Hollow Knight: Silksong

The theory here is some damned fine detective work.

Yeah I'm a little bummed about the prospect of no new Mario game at launch, but the fact that it's backwards compatible helps for me.

Elden Ring will be a great initial 3rd party launch win for Nintendo.

And there might even be some lapsed Nintendo fans that will come back for Metroid Prime 4, especially if the launch trailer recaptures the magic and aura of the original trilogy. I've been thinking about a BOTW playthrough again but I guess I'll wait and see if the remaster is worth it.

ETA: I also saw where Mario Kart 9 had 24 starting grid spots in the trailer. If that's true the game will be absolutely bananas and I'm here for it.

Silksong would actually be the bigger launch title than Mario Kart 9, which was all but confirmed by the Switch 2 trailer. But it and Metroid Prime 4 would be the ones I’d really look forward to.

Whoa now. Slow down. We haven't had a new Mario Kart in 10 years and it's a Mario title on a new console. Mario Kart is the best selling switch title of all time. I know you're excited about Silksong but it's not a bigger launch game than a new Mario Kart.

Oh Mario Kart will absolutely sell more than Silksong, but of titles people will truly be excited about, that’s it. Mario Kart 9 has the unenviable standard of one upping Mario Kart 8 which is a point against it. Everyone will buy Mario Kart, but I don’t think people are as excited about it given how much MK8 still gets the job done.

Silksong’s expected standard is the greatest Metroidvania ever made, so while Metroidvanias aren’t as popular as Mario Kart, I do think they’re the more excited group of people.

On no planet in any universe is this an accurate statement.

I’m just saying it would generate more excitement from a passionate base. Yes from the plebs, obviously they’re going to all buy Mario Kart (myself included), but Mario Kart you know what you’re getting. I haven’t really been actually surprised by Mario Kart at least since Double Dash. But yeah, MK will outsell it three to one.

I honestly have no idea how MK9 could be better than 8 on the Switch.

Nintendo can surprise me I'm sure but I think it's tough to think beyond what SSBU and MK8 were. I just don't know.

MK9 I think you might could do, but I see no way you can top Ultimate. I just want them to release SSBU Deluxe and add like 15 new characters to that roster. A $150 price tag would be rational for that given all the rights you’d have to pay for.

People get over it fast. If 30 FPS ruins a game for you, then you’re too picky as far as I’m concerned

Imagine going through life with such low standards. Yikes.

Imagine thinking BOTW and Tears of the Kingdom aren’t good games because they run at 30 FPS

It's pretty obvious the average gamer couldn't care less about this. If they did, Nintendo would never sell a console.

Exactly. The people that put a huge emphasis on graphics and 60 FPS are worried about the wrong things

I didn't say they weren't good, i said the frame drops were annoying. If you'd wipe the fricking fat out of your eyes, maybe you could read properly.

I’ve put in hundreds of hours into the open world Zeldas and have literally never noticed frame drops, poor graphical performance, 30 fps, etc. not saying they don’t happen, but those things are so far beyond my level of care when playing the Switch that I simply don’t notice.

After a while you get used to it, but going from 60 back to 30 is quite a shock for a few hours.
