That X-men game was is not an easy game, especially the Gambit and Storm stages, but its not really hard.
For the record, its day 3 of Ghosts N Goblins and I have just now reached stage 3.

The Lion King game for Sega Genesis was pretty fricking hard.
The level with the giraffes was pain in the arse enough, and after beating it, you're rewarded with the even harder wildebeest stampede level that was impossible.....and that was the early levels.
I never even made it past the Simba cub levels.

Marble madness is the freaking hardest game ever. Some old NES games I couldn't beat included a game called image flight and Star Wars empires strikes back. I could only make it past the snow part a couple of tries.
One of the mega mans gave me hell as a kid. I got the whole set on ps2 and it was much easier older.

I played the XBL version. Not sure how it compares to NES, but there was a point where I was like "yep..........that's hard, let's play some COD".

I hooked up my nes the other day and have been playing ninja gaiden a little every night. Having trouble with the third boss.
