There is no need for a new console

Does Apple have a console out or something? That's all that these companies do isn't it? Build off of Apple's ideas?

There may not be a need for one now, but it will take years to develop it. There will probably be a need for it then.

With consoles now being full blown entertainment hubs, they really need to go ahead and make them the size of standard home theater components.

Weren't you the one saying that the developers could squeeze out some more power out of these consoles?
ETA:
I would expect a new console in 2-3 years. That ain't so bad.

I am perfectly content in not having a new console for a long time. With the crazy game release cycles of the past few years, there are tons of games that I would like to go back and play that I missed. I just don't see a need for a new console. Not for another couple of years at least.

If it's capable of significantly improving console gaming, there's always a need for a new console.
360 came four years after the original XBox.
I say Microsoft is past due.

Brilliant. Just fricking brilliant.
Yes, let Apple make a console.
That way dumbasses/hippies/hipsters and people like yourself will be gullible enough to pay >$1k for another Apple product with 2-3 year old hardware thats packaged in a oooo so clean, sleak, pretty box.

You have to admit, Apple's marketing group is amazing.

no doubt. just suprised at how many gullible people are out there willing/able to shell out big cash for an overrated product.

Especially with the short life cycle...which is why Apple should stay out of gaming consoles. I'm perfectly happy with waiting seven or so years for a new console.
I'm surprised Microsoft has waited this long to start development.
