Disney has announced the return of Lucasfilm Games, which will be the official brand for all Star Wars games.

The rebranding is both retroactive and forward-looking — all previously released and future Star Wars games are now under the Lucasfilm Games umbrella. Disney has also altered the names of its Star Wars video game accounts on Twitter and Facebook to reflect the change.

This announcement may also signal an end to Electronic Arts’ exclusivity deal. The game publisher secured exclusive rights to produce Star Wars games back in 2013. However, the blog post unveiling Lucasfilm Games hinted that Disney may not be renewing the deal and could be working with other game studios again.

This won't happen until 2023 but at list they will be prepared by then. I wouldn't be surprised if they let EA continue the series they started.

The maps were fine during the narrative. But going back for collectibles?

I went back to Dathomir to get one thing. Took me three hours of frustration, realized I had to functionally replay the entire map. Got the item. Had to then finish the rest of the map to get back to my ship. Turned off the game and never played it since.

The game definitely needed some mode of fast travel on planets, but that's my only complaint.

If they make another, I'll play as long as they give me a shot at romancing Merrin

But romance jokes aside, it hurt my hurt that her role in the narrative was so short. She was a potentially fascinating character.

Why...just why. Bethesda, Rockstar...anyone else and they pick the two shittiest game companies. EA and Ubisoft.

Demand costs on the contracts, I have to think.

One step forward.

Now let’s see if LA can un-frick all the IPs screwed up by EA and Lucasfilm / Disney.

I honestly don't know where you're coming from with this. Ubisoft makes really great games. Not even comparable to EA at all, in my view. Do you just not like Assassin's Creed?

ETA: I would love to see them build a Star Wars world the way they build Assassin's Creed worlds.

It looks like the Indiana Jones game will be developed by Machine Games under Bethesda, and the Star Wars game will be developed by Massive Entertainment, the studio behind "The Division," under Ubisoft.

LINK

EA's exclusivity deal doesn't expire till 2023, so I'm betting these games are both very early in development.
