Been years since I’ve had a gaming PC, I would appreciate all suggestions on must play games that are worth the money and time to play. Thanks in advance.

Link to the PC you bought, and historically, list off a few games that have been your favorites.

This. Otherwise, we're all just shooting in the dark.

Tarkov if you like solo/small groupFPS. Just be prepared to rage a lot. As the learning curve is massive and there is very little in game help on what to do. “Oh… I got shot and am bleeding and have a broken leg… what do I do now?” “Where is this extract? How do I know where I am? Why does my gun suck? How do I unclear a jam? How the frick did that scav head eyes my arse with a frickin broken arse mosin with irons from 150 yards after he 180’d after my shot missed?”
Squad/hell let loose if you like tactical squad/communication based MASSIVE fps games. Squad is modern, hell let loose set in wwii.
Manor lords just dropped EA. It is the darling baby of new city builders and is phenomenal.
Railway empire 2 if you have autism and like trains/management.

Sign up for Steam and GOG if you haven't already. Start adding stuff to your wishlist. Sign up for isthereanydeal.com , and it'll alert you when stuff on your wishlist goes on sale. Sales under 60% aren't usually worth it, but I'm a patient dude.
I'm heavily single player, and I don't know your preference, but this is what I have installed from Steam (not Epic, GOG, etc.) right now:
Baldurs Gate 3
Expeditions Rome
Fallout 76 (meh, since you're just coming back, Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 are better places to probably start, and a cheap way to try out a franchise)
Hearts of Iron IV
The Outer Worlds
Pirates!
This War of Mine
Warhammer 40k: Chaos Gate, Gladius and Rogue Trader
Wartales
Just make sure you actually read the recent reviews for games, and don't just go by the overall thumbs up/down for games.
I also suggest buying the cheapest Yakuza in the series, and seeing if you like it. Definitely want an XBox One controller for stuff like that, not keyboard and mouse.
