Evolving how? From what I Can tell from the footage, it's the same boosting, sliding, mumbo jumbo they've been doing.

But again, to each their own. If I'm in the minority, then so be it.

But I can't ever bring myself to buy another CoD if they keep the same path they've been keeping.

No, he just argues with everyone. Over the smallest things. For no real reason. Other than to exert perceived e-dominance. And to feel smart. But he just comes off as an arse.

He needs prayer.

The last few have been in the futuristic setting, sure. But a lot of people felt it was getting stale with ghosts and said they needed to change it up. They did and it wasn't to anyone's liking

I'm not 100% sold on Battlefield's snipe heavy gameplay, but I think it'd be nice to have a game with CoD's single player campaign with Battlefield's multiplayer.

They're so different, there's room for both. When I preordered IW on amazon, I laughed at the "people who bought this also..." and the first listing was BF1.

Come on man... It's absolutely re-hashed. They even have robotic dogs for a kill streak in IW. There is zero originality put into this game. The only thing "spacey" I've seen so far is when you die you float up instead of remaining on the ground.

OK. I don't remember much about the earlier attack dog kill streak, but I want to say you didn't actually control it before. This is a perk for that type of combat rig.

And I never played BLOPS 3, but I feel compared to Advanced Warfare, the flying around isn't as extreme. I'm still trying to effectively use wall running. Power sliding is definitely a call back to the crysis games, but if this was any series but COD, people would be praising that.

So you mentioned weapons crafting. You're able to infuse weapons into others in this game? Like Destiny?

If my understanding of the weapons crafting system is correct, then yes, almost identical to the way Destiny has it setup. The wall running and power sliding was introduced in BLOPS 3, and has remained unchanged to IW. You are correct that we never controlled the dogs in the earlier version of CoD games, and we didn't get to control the RAPS in BLOPS 3, but it is still a re-skinned version of the kill streak.

It's about as much "innovation" that most shooters do, especially if they are that close to one another. From what I gathered from BF3 to BF4, they switched around some of the default loadouts and tweaked how the revive system worked.

I don't know. I'm not going to say IW is going to change anyone's mind on COD. I'm pretty certain it won't at all. They decided to go with a new direction with the series and it obviously lost a lot of fans. But to me, a) it's still a COD game, fast paced and arcade like and I still like that style from time to time, and b) I played a lot of Unreal Tournament and Time Splitters, so none of the jet packing and jumping around bothers me.

You can nitpick any series about how they re-hash old ideas, but those re-hashes are what makes those franchises stand out. COD has bore the brunt of that criticism because of how beloved the series was from COD4 on. I get it. I'll play IW and have fun with it (they introduced gun game last night with the beta and I was stoked), and I'm curious to see how much I'll actually be into the COD4 remaster.

If I could purchase COD 4 remastered outright, I would do it in a heartbeat. I think my dislike for the CoD series is a mixture of re-hash and I prefer the more realistic shooters. The battlefield series in general is more realistic, but there are things that people are able to do in the game that just make me question FPS games in general. Such as jumping out of a jet, scoping in, and sniping someone else in another jet and then parachuting to said enemy jet and flying off. It's a bad arse play, but it's not realistic in the least bit. Another issue I have with the Battlefield series is the ability as an engineer to repair the tank while it's in motion. I think that is such a simple oversight that they could have addressed. It turns the tanks into god mode essentially.

I've really moved away from most FPS games just because of the general dynamics of the game these days. I find myself enjoying Counter-Strike over CoD based simply off simplicity. There's no perks, no loadouts... Just you and a gun and your talent.

This game is absolute horse manure. Will never play this game with MWRM coming out. I was actually a fan of BLOPS3. I liked the jumping abilities as well as the sliding. But the jumping in IW is so OP and just stupid AF. People just jump around every corner, jump over every wall, etc. The guns are ridiculous. The way you build guns up is ridiculous. The rigs are dumb AF. The rigs specialties are dumb AF. The graphics are decent, but the maps are dumb AF. Through 1 weekend of play I absolutely hate this game. I'm sure some will be fans, but I just can't wait to get back to the old COD style in the RM and am very glad I'll never have to play this game once the full release is out. I think everyone figured it would be stupid by those youtube videos, but this game is just 100x more ridiculous than I ever thought it would be. Straight trash, homie.

Can totally get behind that. Perks and kill streaks, as fun as they are, could be pointed out as the downfall for everyone's "ideal shooter". Halo 4 did introduce weapon drops, but even with that, I feel it was still one of the more pure shooters on the market. But even Halo started falling prey to that trend of perks and kill streaks because........that's what the majority of players want now. I don't know how 5 has handled it, but I just don't think you can get away from it. To make a bare bones shooter now just doesn't make financial sense. We'd love to have it........playing a game like COD2 or 3 would be amazing, but I know I won't ever see that again unless it's an add-on.

OK. I mean, it's there so how else are they going to use it. But fair enough.

This is the kind of critique that is pointless because you're not offering any substance behind it, which probably means it's just preference.

One thing that came to me last night playing was the guns aren't really that different other than surface level aesthetics. Even when you get to anything that involves lasers or whatever, it's just appearance. They still perform the same. With the maps, I liked the one with the lemonade stands, whatever it's called, but the other two were not ideal. The space station one was too cramped for really anything but gun game IMO. The snow level would probably be alright but I swear there were two many directions to guard and no matter where I looked, I'd get smoked from option 6.

What's dumb with how you build guns? I didn't try it so honestly don't know.

Halo 5 introduced crates for micro transactions. If memory serves me correctly, you can unbox weapons skins, calling cards, emblems, and then you can unlock special weapons to use in one of their unranked game modes (can't remember the name of it because I tried it once and hated it). Halo 5 fricked up though. You can't split screen it no matter what, and that lost them a ton of money. I believe the boosting has been around since Halo Reach, but they added clamber (climbing over higher walls) into the game for Halo 5. I stopped playing Halo after 3.
