If you're a fan of shooters, you need to play Metro Exodus

I know all the PC guys are butthurt about Epic exclusivity, but it is an insanely good, insanely atmospheric game. If you are a fan of tense shooters and/or post-apocalyptic settings, you need to play this. Great mix of enemies (you kill humans lots of different mutants), simple and intuitive crafting system (only resources you find are parts and chemicals, you use them to craft anything you need), and rich/rewarding exploration. The farther you get from the beaten path, the more dangerous it gets, but you are often rewarded with caches of resources or rare weapon/equipment upgrades (bigger mags, optics, night vision, additional equipment pouches, etc). Most HUD elements are organic and unobtrusive.
The game is a mix of linear levels with a few large sandbox levels thrown in, with lots of indoor and outdoor areas. I'm in the second sandbox right now and can't get enough. The game is paced very, very well.
Right now, my 2019 rankings are
1. Metro
2. RE2make
3. DMC5
I expect Sekiro to take the #1 spot, but we'll see. Bethesda couldn't dream of making a game this good. Makes Fallout seem like Teletubbies. You will experience all 4 seasons in the post-apocalypse world with a variety of different locales. Game is absolutely beautiful. If it maintains this level of quality, it could def be my GOTY.
As far as issues, there are a lot of technical issues right now and a patch is pending. I'm on X1X and the game has had 5 or 6 freezes and crashes. They also need to implement a few QOL fixes to make it a little more enjoyable. Nothing major though.

Sales of Deep Silver's Metro Exodus are already 2.5 times that of the previous Metro title, indicating that the store exclusivity has had little effect on its success.
I think it looks pretty cool. My boss will really love this game. I convinced him to join PC and he loves Fallout.

I just played 1 & 2.
I wasn't ready to play Exodus. I did watch about half of it with Cohhcarnage.
He had a pretty severe bug that caused him to have to replay about 15 hours so I've held off on the purchase. He was at the absolute end of the first area right before leaving on the extended train and it bugged out on him. I think he even spoke with the developers and they said he needed to restart. I think they gave him the option to give him a save at that point, but he didn't know if they took the same actions he took so he started over.
I'll get it eventually just not now.

Pretty poor take considering the PC community has probably grown much greater than that since 2013.
I bet they're even counting Redux as the last released metro title

It's being compared to Metro Last Light, not Metro Redux or the console versions. The game has only become popular in the past few years, and Metro Exodus has exponentially more marketing (even before the store fiasco) than the previous games in the series. I'm sure the game will sell fine as it's the standout title on the platform next to Fortnite. This isn't some gotcha though.

Why would it have grown drastically in 6 years? Not like computers suddenly became cheap so everyone bought one.
I could be wrong, but I haven't read about a surge in PC buying in the last several years so I'm not sure where you are coming from.

The long console refresh pushed most consolers to build a few years back.
Individual PC sales are on a decline but gaming PCs are on a rise.
