Pitfall was the only game I remember enjoying as a kid.

Everything else was just a nightmare.

Certain games are still great.

In general these are by Activision, Imagic, or Starpath.

These include Megamania, Pitfall 1 and 2, Atlantis, Cosmic Ark, Phaser Patrol, etc.

Pitfall 2 was awesome. First game I ever figured out hiw to glitch it and beat it in 10 seconds.

I wish I had one. I have my brother's old 5200, but the controllers don't work

It’s a 5200. Those controllers didn’t work when they were new.

The Pac-Man game got the console into many homes, but Activision had a very high average quality.

My go to Atari (we didn't give it any number back then, baws) games were:

Atari/Sears

Missile Command
Space Invaders
Joust (I honestly believe I was one of the best 100 players in the world at this game in 1983. I could beat anybody 9 games out of 10)
Defender (Conversely, even though I loved the game, I never got very good at it.)

Activision:

Rampage
Commando
Chopper Command
Pitfall!
River Raid
Boxing
Tennis
Starmaster
Grand Prix
Dragster

Pretty sure I had Donkey Kong by Coleco, too.

I was a huge fan of the atari football game as a little boy. Lot of memories playing my dad. I’d always be the yellow team and he the blue.

Tutenkaman was another great game.

Yars Revenge was a lot of fun. (Just picking one that hasn't been mentioned yet.)

A buddy of mine went to goodwill and bought a 2600 with a shite load of games. We would get drunk and hammer those old games.

good times on the 2600

And if you scored x amount of points, and screen shot the tv, they would send you a patch as an achievement for high score.

I had 2, one for plaque attack and keystone capers. Never received the one for hitting high score for Jungle Hunt.
